Anyone hear fo any problems, or expect any problems with the Ruger 22/45's synthetic frame? Plastic always makes me nervous, but they don't have a 22 without the slanted grip of the Mk3.

Would the Mk3 the better way to go being all steel?

I have a 22/45. The plastic frame is very solid. I think it would be fine for a centerfire pistol, and for a .22 it should last forever. The bolt runs in the steel receiver tube, and there is little else that would wear on the plastic parts. It feels much sturdier than my Glock.

So get an all steel or metal gun if it's a concern.
Just don't mention it to the guys who've put 50,000 + rounds through an :)eek: )'plastic' Glock or similar...funny...the only parts that seem to wear in them are metal!
No really, modern 'plastics' and composite materials are replacing metal parts due to superior wear, durability, and cost issues.
So relax and enjoy the benefits of modern technology.:D

we always heard about slide craked but don't heard much about polymar flame cracked. They are sure not as nice looking as steel flame but for a small among of money, you can have a very nice ugly gun. I don't think you can break the flame over your life time. I just bought myself one this afternoon at Leverarms. I was went for a Mark III as I like the round trigger guard but I finally got the 2245 because of the cute ugly looking and the nice slim grip. I should take her home within few days:D

yeah.. I had problems with the pins working loose. the plastic frame does not hold the pics as well as a metal frame.. even with the grooves cut in for the strings to catch they were still coming loose.. had to finally locktite one of the to get it to stay.. if it was metal, I could have peaned (sp??) the end, but no such solution with a plastic frame.

When I owned my Ruger 22/45, I never was worried about solvents like Brake Cleaner or Gunk Out harming the polymer. It was bombproof. You will never regret buying a 22/45.

Now if only I could save up for an XD9mm......
