This scope interests me but my understanding is the electronics only have a 1 yr warranty. This concerns me. Anybody own one and can give a review, good or bad?

I have in 4-12x40. Great scope, love the dot and it has the CDS. If the dot ever fails, not really a concern to me, still great glass and turret.

I just spoke to the Leupold Distributor (Korth Group) general manager and he advised that electronic devices have 2 year warranty. In the case of electronics attached to a Gold Ring product then the warranty would be extended in most cases unless negigence was the cause of the problem. I have never seen a Leupold Gold Ring scope returned to us with problems related to the illuminated reticle. Phil.

I have a VX-R 3-9x50 on my 338WM, I have had it for 4 years and it even took a good tumble in a creek when I was in the mountains. It never lost zero but now its scratched. I am very happy with it. I'm only on my third set of batteries, so the auto shut down works good and being adjustable in brightness has been good in all shooting light. I bought the aluma caps for it and really like them.

I have a VXR in a 1.25 x 4 illuminated reticle on a guide gun
Has a few hundred warm loads through it

Recoil is present from a bench
Scope is working fine
Still on the original battery
And spare battery is pretty easy to carry around too

I have the VXR, a Z6 and a HD5 on my 3 go to big game rifles
Did an informal test at twilight
And of course the Z6 stands supream
Until the crosshairs disappeared, as they do up against bush, or animal

I have a vxr 3 to 9 x40 on the way for my turkey slug gun combo found a sweet deal ,so I am hoping for the best ,Dutch

I run a 2-7 VXR on my 375 with no issues. I also had a 3-9 CDS version that was perfect as well. I think there great scopes. I'm a big Leupold fan, never one failure with any of my scopes.

Big fan also, I have a mark AR 1" tube and a VX-6, both have the firedot and are fantastic.

The 4-12x40 at 14 ounces with firedot is without competition for weight and features, in my opinion. The 50mm is 16.6 ounces. By comparison my vx-6 3-18x44 is 19 ounces. I keep thinking about switching to the 4-12x40 and shaving 4 ounces...

I bought a used VXR Patrol 1.25 x 4 x 20mm (or something like that...) for a great price here on the EE Forum and I'm loving it. It's got the SPR reticle. I'm really a Mark4 kinda guy and I'm super pleased with this unit on my deer gun, a 700 SPS .260 sporter barrel! :)

Cheers!

I've got a few of the VX-R offerings -

1.25- 4 X 20 Patrol sees use on my AR and has been tried on the Ruger Scout (.308)
2-7 X 33 with the new multi dot LRV reticle on that same Ruger Scout
4 - 12 X 50 on my back up hunting rig Rem 700 in .30-06

All are performing well and if the opportunity arises I'd go with another. IMO they're a solid value and place between the VX2 & VX3 for glass quality and clarity. I really like the illuminated dot for ease of viewing on dark moose hide.

I've had 5 of the VX-R scopes
(3) 3-9x40 each with a different reticle (Duplex, Ballistic FD, Firedot 4)
(1) 1.25-4x20 (duplex)
(1) 2-7x33 (duplex)

I wasn't a huge fan of the 2-7, the eye box view seemed smaller than a standard VX-2 2-7 and the 30mm tube made it appear pretty chunky on the compact rifle.

The 1.25-4 was an awesome scope, I had it on a guide gun and compact 308.

The 3-9x40 is my favorite Leupold scope at the moment. The etched BFD reticle is great, the optics are crisp and clear, extremely good product for the money.
Can't say I've heard of anyone having an issue with the electronics side of things on these scopes. If it were to fail for some reason and you didn't want to pay for a repair, you'll still have an exceptional non illuminated scope.

I have a Leupold VX-R 1.25-4 on my XCR-M in .308. I used it for hunting this year and the dot made all the difference in low light. Really like the scope. That being said, I really don't trust anything electronic, but it still has crosshairs in the event the dot goes down. I always pack spare batteries and they are a breeze to change. I would buy another one of these scopes.

my 3to 9 by 40 came in the mail today sweet .got the base for my gun now just got to find some good 30 mill rings that will handel the recoil .I have a set of millett steel rings here but I find them to high thy are medims and thy only have two screws on each ring .not sure I trust them for a shot gun .will trade them for a set of tac low rings .Dutch:dancingbanana:

Well I just bought a VX6 with firedot and right on the side of the box it states Full lifetime warranty. If that dot ever fails I'm holding them to it.

+1 - Me too

The firedot is pretty fantastic with the auto shutoff, motion sensor auto on. I use a mark AR on my crossbow, and it's great. I have killed countless batteries over the years by forgetting to turn off illumination. I still forget on my VX-6, but still going strong.

LOL....err batteries. I've killed countless as well with other optics. I'm so forgetful I actually never use most of them anymore but this Firedot technology is pretty cool. It really works as advertised.

Cheers!!
