Any loads for 185gr bullets in 8x57 Mauser?

Hi folks,

I just lucked into several hundred rounds of .323 SP bullets in 185gr.

The problem is that when I checked out my Lee reloading manual and the Hogdon's site stickied to this forum, I could only find loads for 180gr and 200gr bullets. I saw loads for 185gr bullets in 8mm Remington Mag, but that's not what I have the bullets for.

I'd like to reload some milder (i.e. 30/30 like loads) for my Turk M93, and both lighter and regular strength loads for hunting in my M96 Husky sporter and K98rifles.

Anybody know where I can get data for 185 gr bullets in these rifles. If I load them to the 200gr data, what kinds of problems could that raise?

With the money you lucked into, buy a Chrony.

Reduce the charges for 200s, load a series of rounds building up to the velocity you think will work best. Try the max load for 180s. Test fire for accuracy and examine the cases. Same rules apply as with any reloading sequence.

use starting load for heavier bullet. to use max load for 180 gr. bullet is bad advice always use less powder for heavier bullet. for light loads try h4895. hodgdon manual says this powder can be reduced to 60% of maximum

here it is, I was mistaken, he has 180 and 187 data (not much for 187). This will give you a pretty good idea of powders and loads. You wont have to use much less for 185's as opposed to 180's.
