I see a lot of preliminary reviews of these online. Anybody get to put some miles on them and some rounds downrange? Thoughts? worth the extra dough versus the montana?

I think the montana 84L would be the best bang for the buck. That said, I have a mountain ascent and love it. I payed just over 1900 for it, that was before the dollar went down. My ascent is accurate. I guess it depends on what you want.http:

I have to agree on that point.

I used to work with this guy who was a bit of a joker. Days off were in different cities all the time. While walking down the street every time we walked passed a pretty girl he'd look at her and say ... HI----maintenance !!!!!

Lots of truth there ...

Thanks for finding that for me. I started going through all of the retailer links to find a couple as well haha, far and few between. I'm just one of those guys that needs to pick it up and feel it to make a decision. Might have to just buy one.. There's always the EE. Looking at a Weatherby Ultra Lightweight as well.

Elmwood Epps has got one in 30-06. $2608.20.

No problem Lukesky.

If I had the extra would consider a Mountain Ascent myself ! Looks like a great rifle.

However, I'm hell bent on the Adirondack in .308.

Haha if only I could have thought about it last year.. Would have been wayyy happier on the wallet.

Yeah I looked at the Adirondack as well, a little skeptical on the shorter barrel but haven't read too many reviews on performance!

I've got one of those too, currently my favourite little walkabout gun.

EXACTLY what I want it for Ardent.

Have a couple of extensively modified Rem. Mohawk 600 for this purpose but if I can get something about as compact but even lighter it's a win-win.

Not a lot about the Adirondack online worth reading. How's the accuracy ? How far have you stretched it out to ? What round is it shooting best for you ?

Appreciate any insight.

Doing some load development for a friends ascent in 30-06 at the moment. Shoots very well. Wouldnt mind one for myself in a 280AI and put a Montana stock on it as I like the look and feel better. If I recall, I think I read somewhere the Montana stock is even lighter????

Only shot Fed fusion 150gr so far, easy 1 MOA fodder. In my experience, my mountain ascents and adirondack (four guns total played will) will all beat MOA- for three rounds. Even three is pushing it, the barrels are so light they start to walk after two to three, and you can't blame them.

My friend and I were off handing my Adirondack at 100 yards last week on a 6-8" steel gong (whatever a 2" blind flange measures), he had his Tikka T3 .300 WSM initially and was missing (not the gun's fault). He took my Adirondack and said he couldn't believe how steady it held, and nailed the gong first shot. That's my number one impression of it, effortless offhand, I did two of the forum offhand challenges with it, feels like a BB gun at 4lbs 13ozs before optics. The Mountain Ascent is the exact same, with the benefit of a longer barrel and optional / removable brake. Nice touch.
