I've been chatting at MPI's booth at the show and apparently MPI can make a stock as light as 9oz(!) for the 84, this I'll have to try. That should make my Adirondack 4lbs flat. Might have to flute it too, imagine a little 3lb 15oz .308, sounds good to me for a pack / guide gun with irons on it.
Sounds interesting Ardent. Did they give you a price on the stock? 9 oz sounds sweet. I think I would prefer it with the fore end.The stock would take some getting used to, it's no butt pad (well, a piece of neoprene), and slim is an understatement, but for a carry lots shoot once a month rifle the idea of getting to 4lbs flat or less is salivating. I may even have them do it without a fore end, we talked about the possibility.
