I just bought a very nice used stainless Ruger 10/22, after deciding the new Rugers aren'nt my cup of tea, for more reasons than one. Anyways, I would like to put a Tapco Stock on it and give it a SR-22 look. I was just wondering if there is any loss of accuracy with changing the stock to a aftermarket one?

I had a tapco and it worked fine, but I did notice that the stock is all over the barrel, touching it almost the whole length. I never shot it much past 40 yards, and only really shot the steel spinning targets with my kid, so I can't really comment on accuracy, but the sr22 is free floating, a heavier contour barrel. I have an Archangel kit with an sr22 barrel and it "seems" to be more accurate. Just some food for thought.

most aftermarket stocks dont use the front band found on the orig rifle. In fact, most are set up for the heavy barrel.

this can prove problematic if there is not enough support under the barrel in front of the attachment lug. There is only 1 action bolt so the action can tilt and wobble around both front and rear unless proper bedding is done.

I have had a chance to play with a lot of different stocks and all seem to benefit from some bedding at the rear of the action and some in the front.

overall, I have been very pleased with the promag stocks. The Archangel carbine (AR looking one) encapsulates the action so the rear wiggle is controlled very well. The front mount is also very well done with the barrel free floating.

Could be what you are looking for to give it a quality AR look.
