Dang, that was fugly, glad they refunded you. Those huglu singles that Prophet River had looked pretty nice. I've got the Henry single in .308, and was a bit disappointed with the plastic on it too.
Plastic trigger guard too? How is the forestock attached? I see the screw, but does it also mate to a plastic connection point or directly to the receiver?
Hmm ,all this talk has piqued my interest. Bought my grandson a model .42 but him swinging a relatively nice gun around at 11 has made me rethink this. The Huglu and Henry look interesting as well as some of the others and see some preferences but for a youngster any thoughts. I was thinking.410 or 28.
I like single shot firearms as much as I like repeaters. Henry produces some decent single shot shot-guns but I also like the single shot rifles too. There are probably a few options that could be added to the ones that Henry already produces. Like the ole H&R buffalo rifle which had a barrel of about 28 inches long or so. This is in keeping with the length and style of some rifles which were made in the past. Plus, it is something that could be made into other calibers that certain people might be interested in owning. I'd order one if they built in in a caliber I am more interested in owning and using.
I had an 1873 Trap door Springfield Calvary model in 45/70 That cured me of single shot older rifles, and I know why Custer "died with their boots on " they were suffering from concussions..
Ok thought long enough ,would probably go Henry if they had a 28. but thinking single shot huglu in 28 as I have several 28 and he could graduate upwards. The only thing is cannot hold one before I order it anyone have an honest opinion ?
New 28g Huglu single, first impressions not bad, looks good happy to see it 3" for whatever that does.Stiff ,trigger is really stiff .Locks up good and opens well.5 chokes so that is another item I was wondering about. For $300 it is imho not a bad buy.
see how it shoots this week when the snows gone...
