any M1917 Enfield (.30-06 Springfield) experts ?

looking for input on a M1917 im picking up locally, owner doesn't seem to know much about the history of it, -says he picked it up from a friend-
*what i know so far:
-seller says he never fired it
-ears are chopped off
-stock is sporterized

just looking for input on maybe finding more data from stamps on it or what its worth

M1917 will have the flaming bomb and the eagle stamped on it. I agree that this is a P14. It appears to be nothing more than a truck gun in an expensive caliber.
 
He wants $100. Says its a 1917 .30-06, if it happens to be a P14 .303 British, i have no interest in it.

I haven't seen the rifle in person, will meet the seller next week, he says "Overall condition is about what you would expect. There is no real rust spots but both the barrel and stock could use a good cleaning. The bore is not scratched or pitted. The stock is not broken and the ears were cut off of course. I have never shot it. I only bought it to help a fella out.."
 
P-14,... most likely has a cut barrel and a dark bore, or close to it. Ears cut and a dove tail cut for a rear sight. $100 is generous.....
