I"ve read alot of the M305 info on the board. The only negative info I could really find was comments that the M305 bolt may sometimes be suspect fitting or quality. Before I buy one, I thought I'd ask:

Has anyone had any bad experience with the M305 bolts?

Thanks guys.

Bolt Not Camming Fully Into Battery On Earlier Model

On a used 1980's era used older Norinco M-14 clone that I picked up in 1995 I had a problem with its bolt as fitted. It did not cam fully into battery when chambering a round.
Result was violent ejection and in several cases pierced primers. Not nice. Gunsmith checked it out and replaced bolt. I think that problem has been cured long ago in production but I did experience it when I shot the rifle in 1998 in a match.

The older Norincos/Polytechs had bolt issues with the hardness and lug geometry.

They have rectified the problems with the newer Norincos that we are currently getting.

Somehwere around two dozen of theChinese rifles undder my belt ...
about one in three of these had bolts that were

A: TOO DAMN SOFT
B: Ground too sharp at the left lug
C: Headspaced too large

The other 2/3 of the Chinese worked out just fine.

I've got a Chinese bolt in my personal M-14S right now, and the only reason to change would be snobbery.

But then snobbery is enough reason in any case, eh?

Now that is odd.... I thought Hungry was BIG on REVERSE Snobbery ... beating the EXPENSIVE rifles with el-cheapo home built stuff

Like I keep saying, brand name IS important ... why there are even those who would buy a Harley.

Oh well, boys and their toys ...

I've also tested 4 bolts in a lab. All had "within specks" hardness.

I personally bought a few USGI bolts from the US last year.....
I have 1 Springfield (USGI), one Winchester and one TRW. I got them all for 207$USD wich is a killer deal !

Steiner:

Don't get ONE ! I'm serious ! Just DO NOT Get ONE ! :|

Get 2 of the Fxcken things !! You might not even stop at 2 ! Go for 3 of them !

Yeah, I turned Skullboy into a TRW Whore ! I used to be a USGI Parts whore also !

Cheers,

I tested a m305 bolt, barrel, receiver, and op. rod last year for hardness. Everything turned out fine. This was from a rifle bought in the fall of 2004 brand new from Marstar. If you look at your bolt and the underside of the receiver, you should see a ping mark where they tested for hardness from the factory.

I looked at the underside of my bolt there is a serial number matching the one on the receiver, is this typical? The gun shoots flawlessly but I noticed a bit of stickiness half way through the pull, is this something i should have looked at?

I have a problem with mine :

first M305 was equipped with an ARMS#18 and I had fun with it :shotgun:
I recently bought another one and swap the mount on the new one.
Surprise : I can't remove the bolt anymore when I could with the other one. I think the bolts are not exactly the same

More grease! Or there is a binding friction point somewhere along the op rod/spring guide/spring/op rod guide/receiver path?
