Any machinists in here?

I’m trying to find a machinist who can make me some pins and screws, I’m hoping to maybe find someone who just does it from home as a hobby or side hustle, I can only imagine larger shops are swamped right now. Short of that I’m considering picking up a small lathe and doing it myself but it’s a hell of an investment for pins and screws.

The pins taper down so it’s more than cutting a piece of stock or filing something down.

Anyone here by chance?

Depending how long the taper pins are you may need someone with a lathe with a taper attachment. If they are only an inch or 2 and can be cut with a compound you'll have better luck finding a hobbyist. For screws what kind of head? Any socket caps require broaches that aren't cheap and I'd guess most hobbyists don't have. For just a slotted top or standard hex head or square head some hobbyists can do.

Unless you have something that's proprietary, taper pins are available in quantity from Fastenal in just about any configuration imagineable and they're cheap.

Getting them custom made????

If you have a tapered hole that's for some reason different from any you can find, you may be better off in investing in a tapered reamer that's more appropriate to your needs.

Yes. You can buy taper pins far cheaper than making them. Unless you have some extreme orphan taper. Borrow a Machinery Handbook and look up taper pin specs. Just about anything found will be listed in the book.
