There is a German Master In Northern Bavaria named Armin Koenig that makes Matchlocks and Wheelock's 15th-17th century. It takes him 20 -24 months to complete, depending on th type of model of gun. Everything is made Exactly identical to the originals. He also has access to private collections , so if there is something unique that you want , he will make it for you.

I have always been curious about the potential for a very accurate rifled matchlock, you still see them in pics from afghanastan and the more I think about it the more it seems a matchlock layed on sandbags could be potentially more precise then a falling hammer/sear mechanism.

Lots of records of close to 1ooo meter shots made on british/indian troops in the 1800s.

I had an original Brown Bess barrel and built a Matchlock for a buddy' He shoots it all the time.BB

I saw one made with a Brown Bess barrel,at Heffley Creek Rondyvous a few years, could it be the same one ?

I have a matchlock that I stocked from scratch and have it about 80% completed and got side tracked on to other things.I did test fire it though and it worked like a charm.Maybe one day I ll get back to it.I also have a recipe for making matchcord if I can find it.
