any mauser lovers here ???

My first rifle was (and still is) a mauser. I didn't buy it, exactly. A friend of mine gave it to me as interest on a $600 loan. I don't remember the year, but it would have been around 1977. I 'sporterized' it myself and I've kept it ever since. Smoothest bolt action I've ever touched (but then, I'm far from an expert on rifles - I shoot mostly shotguns and pistols).
 
Mausers are awesome. I lucked into a .43 cal mauser mfg in 1877. Single shot in reasonable condition. Along with the rife the guy had about 60 old dominion cases and also abox of 50 cast bullets for it! He had no clue what he had. Got the whole works plus lots of other reload supplies for 150.00
Have reloaded and shot this rifle and it is improving the more it gets cleaned. Probably the first couple of cleanings this thing has seen in 100 plus years. Also have a 8x57 turk, short hungarian mauser no calible determined yet, mauser conversion to 30-06, and an Israili conversion mauser in .30 nato(.308) good stuff!!
 
I've got a cool old Mauser.
It was owned and carried by a German Game Warden.
The barrel has a full length rib along the top of it.
The barrel starts out octagon then tapers to round.
Fantastic machining work.
The rifle has Krupp, Esson stamped on it.
I think it may be an 8 mill, but I won't know for sure until I do a chamber cast.
