Any Mauser Oberndorf Experts Here? NEW PICTURES ADDED!

Quite a German presence in Western Canada and particularly BC even before WWI. Look up Alvo von Alvensleben for example. Could have been brought out by someone, even just for a hunting trip. I'd take it out of the stock and take the butt plate off and have a good look around.

As for the crack, the place to shim the stock is behind the main recoil lug at the front of the action. Loose screws and dried out wood causes most problems.

UPDATE July 2018

I had a gunsmith look at this mauser rifle it is indeed 8x57mm (.323)

I plan to do a range report now that the caliber has been confirmed, I just need to find some spare time. First time trying out double triggers, the gunsmith shot the rifle so I'm not worried about it blowing up anymore.
