Any metering advice/thought with 800X?

As part of a good trade, i got 3 lbs of 800x. Ran some through the Uniflow last night and maybe 25% of the throws balanced out. A quick search here and it's not a great metering powder. I have the powder baffle in mine. Ran half the unit through it and no joy. Thoughts? 44mag if it matters

I didn't particularly like it in the Dillon either. I used up what I had thiugh and never bothered with 800X again.
 
I use IMR 800-X in shotshells and I weigh every charge, but then again, I'm a glutton for punishment.
A lee dipper set is probably the most consistent way to charge cases, just make sure your technique is consistent.
If you're really anal about consistent charge weights, try using an appropriate lee dipper in conjunction with a digital scale. It's faster than you think and very consistent.
 
i use 800x in my shotshell powders, it can be a pain, ive metered it and it has been out 1 grain or so either way sometimes because it gets stuck in the metering block. I weigh everything.
 
800X is a royal pain, it does not metter well at all. I use a digital scale or a tripple beam for every single charge. Still have afew pounds of 800X , when it's all used up, i'd never buy it again. If your into loading 44mag / 357mag Blue Dot is a better bet.
 
Just a quick google search of this powder shows Lots of trouble metering this powder. However I have found that meters well in of all things my lee autodisk pro, go figure! I love this powder in my 10mm for it's shear power running 200gr near at my comfortable max power. I found it was capable of holding +/- 0.3 grains and after doing extensive hand measured loads for development of max loads I found a good top load that was still within 1.0gr of the top max load I felt comfortable with without showing any signs of over pressure, so I can load all day with my autodisk pro and even measuring every 10 rounds or so be confident it's loading what I want. I now have a dillon, but kept the autodisk pro from my classic turret press just for 800X. Anyways my $0.02. As with any advice take everything with a grain of salt. What I did for building loads and my "comfort zone" for power and pressure may not be what you are comfortable with. Just be careful and try her out. Later....
 
I have used 800-x in the .44 Magnum. I never got too worried about the accuracy of the powder throw. I selected a good load, slightly under maximum, and then proceeded to charge all of my cases and shoot. At most ranges you won't know the difference in the powder weight, or the differences really won't make a difference in the velocity.
I have used a couple of pounds of 800-x in this way. It is not cavalier, but the reality is that the small differences in powder weight are not significant unless you are shooting at 1000 yards.
