I snagged an excellent K 98 a couple of years ago for about 500 bucks. Drove an 11hr. return trip just to pick it up.
I have other milsurps, but am missing anything from the US or Canada. Would like a Lee Enfield and a Garand.
Lee Enfields seem to be going for around $500 and up, while the Garands would be over $1200(for good ones).
Problem is, they ain't going down in price and it's probably going to be now or never. I'm afraid it might be never.
Do you think these prices are going to level off or maybe even go down, in the foreseeable future?

I got back into guns a too late so anything other than a MN is going to be out of my price range. I had always wanted to have one service rifle from every major power of WW2 but it isn't going to happen now unless I win the lottomax.

All of them...

Until I set aside the money, one at a time, to keep checking them off the list.

A K98 and a Garand are working their way to the top of that list right now, I'll grab one this year, and the other next, based on my tax returns. I would do both this year, but my wife says, apparently, that the 40 year old fridge that came with our house needs to be replaced.

Stupid appliances.

Well prices will likely go down when the market crashes next. I imagine there will be people who won't be well prepared for it and that is when you buy firearms and motorcycles for cheap.

No, it just will happen sometime. Just wait for the market to dip, and something will come along. I imagine there were some pretty good deals in 2008, when the stock market fell through due to the housing issues in the States.

Yup-M88 Steyr,Berdan II and Gew 88 in original trim.

Just way out of my reach (even if I could find one for sale).

There should be some in Alberta....
before to longf:P:

Take a look at the car and truck dealers - canceled fleet orders have their inventories spilling onto the streets. The deals are already starting.

I am..
and want to smack people....
I live in Albertastan

I've already cut some people off. Frigging idiots. "Oh, the NDP screwed Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and BC, HARD. But this is Alberta, and Notley seems like a nice lady! It'll be different this time."

Ok stand still, turn just a bit sideways... Ok good, now let me rabbit punch your kidneys for ten minutes straight. Trust me, it won't hurt as bad as it did the last time.

The way I figure it for old milsurps whatever you pay will probably be expensive today and seem like a bargain in the not too distant future. I find it odd that No.5 Enfield 'jungle' carbines used to fetch a premium over standard SMLE's and No.4's. Not any more. And I think what that's saying is there is a desire to own the 'typical' or most universally used historic rifles. I'd throw in that dewat MG's seem to be breaking new, unprecedented prices. It's all you can ever own and the odds of seeing any new imports is slim driving up the rarity and therefore the price. At the other end of the spectrum, flintlocks and percussion rifle prices are stagnate because there is a shrinking pool of collectors whose interests lies there (sorry, my opinion and I LOVE my Mk.II** Snider).

Ross's, No.4T's, Boys are getting to the point where you have to wait for the current owner to pass away and hope you're in the right place at the right time.

Hey, they ain't making them any more.

I won't even taunt the younger members about tales when you could go into a surplus shop and find barrels full of $10 Enfields, BARS and Brens. OK, maybe I just did.
