Any neat safety tricks or education ideas?

I thought maybe a safety orientated thread might be appropriate as hunting season approaches.

My #1 concern is hunters who use thier scopes to glass for game and check out distant targets. Please use binoculars. At our little oilpatch company we have 5 sturdy lads who are avid hunters and successful every year. With me making up 6 we did a poll and found that all of then scoped game and hunters alike on a regular basis. They felt the rifle was on safe and the trigger was clear and the gun was safe. We talked about it and they all went out and bought binoculars or dug out the ones they had.

I have seen far too many guys point their loaded rifle at me to figure what I am! Anything in the scope of a loaded rifle is a target, fellow hunters should NEVER be our target.

I had a guy check me out with his scope two years ago while sitting in my tree stand. I looked back at him with my binos and gave him the finger. He didn't like that. I was kinda hoping he'd come over as I had a few choice words for him. I'll be damned if I let some fat old fart aim his gun at me.
 
Riflescopes are NOT for spotting game!!
A good pair of binoculars is a mandatory accessory on my opinion.
My next pet peeve is slob "hunters" who drive all over looking for game while consuming large quantities of beer or other spirits.
Never leave the vehicle except to pee.

I don't consider pointing loaded rifles at people and carrying loaded rifles while drunk or stoned "safety nazi" issues. It is simply the actions of dangerous individuals who should know better. The real cause here is for those who know better to educate those who don't.

I am not advocating nit pick rules but common sense reminders and tips to make our sport safer and less prone to the anti-gun lobby propaganda.

I really didn't think a safety thread would meet such gentle but early opposition. Perhaps my title was ill chosen. I have retitled it and made my original and this post less provocative in nature.

I suspect the hi-viz thing is kicking a dead moose from the past. As far as the hi-viz stuff I like wool pants and a red wool jack shirt in red black plaid. I wear a bright red ball cap we hand out at work. I found cheap little Coleman led lamps the size of pens that look like small traffic wands in white or a flashing beacon in red at a checkout counter. They include a loop so I tied 2 together and throw them over my shoulder so one faces front and one face rear. Never seen a game animal sporting a flashlight on a cutline in low light.

Long walks down cutlines in pre or post hunting light is most dangerous. I work in the Alberta oilpatch and carry hi-viz safety vests by law. I wear that and ugly lime green coveralls when working in the bush during rifle season but would never wear them hunting but i wouldn't change a tire on highway 2 without them!. Might as well take a boom box and some AC-DC music along while hunting with hi-viz. Obviously others disagree.

I find it borderline dangerous at the local rifle range.
1 people who want to check out targets/walk down range and leave the bolts closed on rifles.
2 poor muzzle control.

I am, I live in Ontario and my government says we are safer wearing orange.;)
It sucks living in Ontario for many reasons, this is one, the other is all the laws people make up they think exist. I sure you all have heard a few.:)
