Greetings, all;

I've been on a hiatus from pistol shooting for a few years.... Just wondering, have I missed the appearance of any new, light weight, small grip 9mm pistols (yes, for a small, female hand)...

I'm not a huge fan of the Glock, is there anything new beyond the m&p?

This wouldn't be for competition, so I'm not worried about holders, fancy sights, etc...

Cheers!

There is something to be said about having some weight to a pistol. Be ware of those light weight autos. Not all that easy to master.

Sig 239-TAC 9mm. A little more expensive, but it's a great gun. It's all metal but well balanced and definitely not as heavy as a full sized pistol. Single stack mag, night sights, fantastic SRT trigger system... short reach for the trigger as well. 3 mags, well built pistol like most Sigs.

There is a thread about "small hand shooters" down there somewhere.

I too have small hands, the SR9 feels amazing, not to mention it is REALLY well priced.

Except the horrible trigger I've read about on the forums...

I think skimping on a pistol when the biggest purchase in the long run will be ammo, would be foolish. If you only have a certain amount to spend, SR9 is the "bang 4 buck" leader right now. Bigger budget, there are better choices that are more expensive.

The trigger improves immensely after a few hundred rounds. Plus there are areas you can polish for free to help it out, and some $20 aftermarket bits you can install as well that are supposed to bring it right around.

The lady that manages Al Simmons Guns told me her "go to gun" is the H&K P30 as it fits her small hands very well.

I look at it this way, she can own/shoot any make/model available, so her opinion is most likely very valid/accurate.

So if you don't mind dropping 1K or so on a pistol, you may want to check one out. I own several H&K's, very well designed and manufactured guns.
As mentioned above, the difference in cost between a 'bargain' pistol and a high quality pistol, in most cases usually represents 500 - 1000 rounds of ammo for it!

Exactly. You were clearer than I was. Ammo will be your largest investment, don't skimp on a pistol, if the one you want is more expensive.
