Any new source of smokeless powder?

I find this description misleading. Yes, the powder is made at the Expro plant in Salabery-de-Valleyfield, QC, but it is made under contract for and to the specification of a US company, Hodgdon. Of course the whole production lot is shipped down to Hodgdon so they can package and label it and enter it into their distribution channel under their "IMR" brand. Did you think they were going to set up a little independant packaging line and warehouse in Canada, that handles just enough powder for the Canadian market, all so it doesn't have to make the trip there and back? That would be pretty stupid.

IMR powders are made in Canada to their own specs. Hodgdon is a powder distributor only. They manufacture labels only. I'm happy that IMR powders are not manufactured to Hodgdon specs, they've maintained a much higher standard of product uniformity than other products marketed by Hodgdon. Data I recorded for IMR powders in the 70's are unchanged for current powders. Try that with Varget, or Retumbo.

According to the IMR website, the IMR Powder Company was purchased outright by Hodgdon in 2003. Methinks they do much more than simply print the labels.

Regardless, the point is that the powders may be made in Canada, but only under contract to a US company. It would not be reasonable to expect any part of the supply would be set aside to serve the Canadian market first.

As you so graciously pointed out, I was wrong. That's once. I thought they were distributors only.
