Im planning on doing a 2 day backpack hunt for a mulie buck by myself which im quite excited about. Do any of you guys just take off and do a hunt by yourself?? I do this alot during the fishing season and find it really enjoy it so I thought I'd give a go at it for a couple days this hunting season.

I hunt alone when no one is around. I prefer to go with someone else but don't want to miss out on hunting because I have no one to go with. Most of my hunting isn't all that remote unless you get lost, because you could walk forever with out crossing roads where I hunt sometimes.
 
I often do day hunts alone, and at least once or twice a season I'll usually do some sort of overnight or 3 day solo trip with a backpack.

Although I must admit, it's often more fun to have someone to talk to. Or in the case of most of my hunting buddies, make fun of.. :wink:
 
I have and shot deer too.

Dragging the deer out wasn't a problem (land was flat), but hoisting it up (weighed about 150lbs) onto the hood of my Jeep was an experience that no one should go through.

I know it sounds funny but there is actually alot of terrain around the Lake Dieffenbaker resevoir that it really rough. I'll try and get some pics of it and post them, you would never know you were in Sask. Lots of big bucks hide out in these areas were few people venture.

Yup, I hunt alone quite often... It is totally different than hunting with someone, sometimes I appreciate the solitude and other times I do find it lonely... But, I think the lonely part comes in cause I am a bird hunter at heart and rarely hunt alone for birds...

Today I am hiking into an area west of fredericton, alone, with my portable treestand and HOPEFULLY, I will nail a buck!!! Outta here at 2 pm...

Depends on the circumstances. Not recommended here in Nunavut to head out alone on a snowmobile. Lots of search and rescue operations looking for solo hunters who are overdue. Lots of searches for groups, too, but with a group there can be options available if there is a problem.
 
I like hunting alone, for deer anyway. I'd rather have an extra set of hands for the bigger game. Plus the crows and whisky jacks laughed last year when I kept trying to high five myself and falling down...

With the increasing incidence of grizzly activity, I'm beginning to prefer having a partner in bear country.
 
I have often spent all day in the bush just enjoying the solitude (I'll be damned if there is any game around) just relaxing in the outdoors. While it can be dangerous doing this if the worst actually happend ,just make sure that at least 2 people know where you are going and when you are expected back and what would be a bad amount of time has passed :ie longer than just nailing game on the way out which would delay you . This actually saved my bacon one morning when I went out bow hunting deer . I was was set up in an old foundation outside an orchard . As I tried climbing out the foundation gave way and I fell back into the house and had several large stones fall and break my ancle. Since I was supposed to be home before lunch people knew something waws wrong when I didn't show up and they came and found me . Just be careful and you can have a great trip !!!
 
I do most of my hunting alone..Little tricky loading a moose in the pickup by myself but a quad winch helps..Plus if you miss no one sees it..And every shot can be 500 yards :lol:
