Any of you guys ever hunt alone??

Hunting Alone

I quite like hunting alone. I have had a couple of misadventures in the past, and they have made me think that if I am going to shoot myself well enough, but for my partner to, no way.
I take extra supplies, a radio, small axe, also, I try my best not to put myself in jeopardy.
Just my way, seems to work for me.
Had some good hunts, and good times too.

I go hunting when the time permits, if that happens to be when I'm alone so be it. The wife is non too happy about it, but I print her a map of the area I'm going too and stick to that area, Just incase!!

Yah good idea to tell someone (that likes you) where you are going, and leave a map with a rough timeline.

I've volunteered for a few search parties over the years, and seen how sometimes even experienced people can get themselves in some serious poop.

Next year I will start hunting, but up till now I mainly Hike all over the place.
I always carry a GPS, a good map (and lots of spare batteries).

Must be fun to hike/hunt in Sask'...you could prob' walk for days and still be able to see your house with a good set of lenses. ;)

I only hunt when I am alone or with somebody....
Seriously I prefer to hunt with a partner... I had to phone for help with a large buck this year... I leave a radio on at home when I go out by myself and a map to the general area where I am hunting.
It is easy to get hurt in the bush no matter how careful you are.

I mostly hunt alone now that I am on the EI hunting team and all my friends are working .Some of my best conversations have been out on hunting trips by myself.Oh and leave some kind of trip plan so that search and rescue know where to roughly look in case you dont arrive back on time and a GPS can sure help.Have fun. When I go bowhunting, I usually go with a friend. When we get to our spot we split up for the day. You can't be that successful bowhunting when you are chatting. I get the solitude, the security, and the help after the shot. Riffle season is a different story, alone, in pairs, or by the dozen, I can enjoy hunting from all aspects.

I ususally hunt the countryside around home by myself. I know this area very well and carry a satelite phone and all the basics to sit out a day or two if need be. I never venture into unknown territory alone, and my wife gets a full briefing with all plan details before I leave.

My job is stressfull so I look forward to hunting. I enjoy the solitude and the feeling of self-reliance. I take my time and do not take chances when on my own.

I also enjoy hunting with my two sons, its a different experience.

When I do venture out into unknown territory, or if I'm planning on traversing frozen rivers or lakes, my brother is my hunting partner.

I do day-hunt's alone, and really enjoy them, but I'd probably be to chicken to do a multi-day backpack hunt alone.

i always hunt alone everyone else is too scared or out of shape to hunt with me i will cover 20 or 30 miles of heavy bush just to get to that one sweet spot before dawn with all my gear on most people i know prefer to unload there four wheelers buzz up the bush for a mile or 2 and plop down there

Im planning on doing a 2 day backpack hunt for a mulie buck by myself which im quite excited about. Do any of you guys just take off and do a hunt by yourself?? I do this alot during the fishing season and find it really enjoy it so I thought I'd give a go at it for a couple days this hunting season.

Cheers!!

I mostly solo hunt but when it comes to big trips I like to have a partner. I often screw off for 2/3 days at a time on my own.

I usually set up a Muley camp for most of the month of November and friends come and go as they please. I'll have so and so one weekend then my father will show up a few days later so on and so on.

Used to hunt solo all the time...no one else could leave for 2weeks or 3 weeks straight. Now I hunt with son James and a couple old guys. Either way I'm happy.

I much prefer hunting with friends, but that does not mean we are all in the same blind/stand or still hunt the same bush, we make a plan and only see each other at drop off/lunch/pickup during the day, sometimes not at lunch. But still close enough that if a shot rings out , we all know who is in that area. Pre arranged FRS chat is also an option , but setup on vibrate not ring mode;) Longest I have went alone was 21 days in a tent after deer, got a nice 11 point buck the last day, 2 minutes after passing on 2 legal does. Recurve 20 pases broadside , still hunting along a ridge overlooking a stream. Thank heavens for my buddies, we went a long way to get this guy out.
