Any of you tried one of the used TradeEx shotties?

I won't get a chance to pattern it for a while, but when I do i'll post pics :)

So... anyone who bought one of these o/u's, wanna let me know how to take the thing apart? :p

In regards to these O/U from trade-ex, what would you guys recommend a double trigger, or a single? Are the single triggers more prone to problems? Any other tips before I buy one of these O/U's?
Thanks

If you have never taken an O/U apart before DON'T.
Just dont take the trigger group apart, the rest of an O/U is very simple.

Back to F armer, In this price range 2 triggers would be my suggestion. The Single Selective Trigger is a fairly complicated little outfit and having it thrown together for this price is looking for problems.

I guess one nice feature of dual triggers too is that if you have a misfire, you simply pull the other.

Anyone ever try pulling both at the same time? Urban myth or can you fire both barrels at once on these types of gun? A friend of mine has a 10ga 3.5" SxS but that gun scares the crap out of me with just one barrel.

Congrats F armer! Let us know what you think of it once you get it...

Also, I wanted to say that I was glad to see, in the new CSSA publication, that Trade Ex Canada is now a corporate member. I like to do buisiness with people who support the CSSA...

Another Trade Ex Shotgun

Sarriugarte, 12ga 2-3/4", mod/full chokes.

Seems like a decent gun - not a fancy grade by any means. As far as I can tell, it does everything I can ask of it, will try it out tomorrow I hope. Bore cleaned up shiny as a mirror - perfect.

PS - you can date your Spanish shotguns by visiting HERE.

The guys over at Shotgun World told me there should be an asterisk after the letter, e.g. D*2 on mine = the year 1984. I figured the gun was 60's or 70's when I bought it but its in fact a little newer.

Also, choke on each barrel are marked with asterisks. * = full (upper on mine); *** = mod (lower on mine). Putting a piece of paper in the closed gun to see the firing pin impression, front trigger fires the lower (mod) barrel.

Well I took my Lanber out today and shot off 50 target loads with it. It shoots to point of aim (I want to pattern it on paper later) and did quite well! I'm really happy with my purchase :D

That's super. Did you find a recoil pad for it? I ordered a Pachymeyer D550 pad for mine - the pad on it is simply hard plastic.
MauserMike. Is this your first O/U? If so you have a long, expensive journey ahead of you. Welcome to the brotherhood. Have you any experience with SXS's?

Mine already has a recoil pad on it, although not fitted properly to the stock (hasn't been shaped, was just nailed on). This is going to be my project gun - needs some touchups on the bluing and the wood needs to be refinished. Going to be a learning experience, and I don't feel too bad because it's only a $225 beater :D

Yes my first O/U. I've shot an old Parker 10ga SxS that a friend owns but I don't own one. I have a real inkling to own a 28ga SxS field gun :)
