Hey fellas.

Any one run some surplus china .223 through a chrony ? I hear its hot. Roughly 3700 fps.

How many relaods do you guys get from this ?
CJ 95 in particular.

Thanks

Someone did chrony them a little while back. Not sure if it's posted in the reloading or black rifle section.

Edit: Just spent 10mins searching for it and came up empty.

3700FPS seems a little optimistic! Depending on barrel length I would expect 3000 to maybe 3300 FPS tops. I do have a chrony but don't really ever shoot Chinese ammo. I really need to get out and start doing some testing like this with my chrony one of these days.

I have shot Norc yellow box a few years ago when I was doing load development. It was roughly 3600fps outta my 11.5 AR. Really hard primers too. (My little old Stevens 200 wouldn't reliably ignite primers, the AR did flawlessly)

There is no way that the Norinco will hit 3700 fps out of any length barrel. I chronied some quite some time ago out a 18.5" barrel and it was right about 3130 fps. That is right about where M193 ball is supposed to be for that barrel length. It did a tad better out of my 20" AR that I had at the time too.

We did it 2 weeks ago and it was running from 2780 to 2970fps from a 10.5 barrel so yes it's pretty hot. I imagine that in a 20" barrel it would be around 3400fps

I could try running some through my Norinco M4 (14" barrel).
But I won't have the results for while. My chrony isn't rated below 0 degrees Celsius... And Alberta is a deep freeze right now.

Any where between 3180-3220 fps. Average of 20rnds being 3195 fps. Basically nato standard of 3200 fps
This was shot out of my 20 inch AR-15 and using Dad's old chrony from the late 90's ( In minus 5-10 weather)
Hope this helps
