any one had experience fireforming 375HH in to 470 Capstick?

Thank for the reply, one more question should i put something between the powder and the cream of wheat or just pour the cream over the powder ?

I just fill them up to the top with COW, then tap the case a few times on the bench until the level drops to the base of the neck. That gives room for the saop plug.

I would consider soap too expensive , I have used simple carpenters glue ( the cheap white stuff school kids use also) small bottle will last lifetime of fireforming. Adds a day to let the glue dry but ive used it successfully for hundreds of cases.

because is more expensive to buy the expanding die since i need to fireform only couple of doz of cartridges

i use expanders i made up on the lathe, i anneal first then a few different steps. then at the end i fire form it after its expanded to take a cast bullet. but the wood clue or soap would work as well but you can use less powder if using a cast bullet since it keep the pressure higher for longer

when i go to fire forming often the mouth is wider than the rest of the case. i find doing it this way give me less spit necks

the COW, being used for fire forming works well if its a shouldered case going straight wall, it just blows the shoulder out when the column of COW starts to move, personally id make sure the neck is annealed and you still risk split necks if its too big of a jump.
