Any one here know about these Spanish M93 mauser markings?

I am looking at a 1925 Spanish M93 Ovido made mauser and would like to know more about some of the markings.

There is a crossed hammer stamped on the front barrel band (Chilean?), a crescent moon and star stamped on the bolt sleeve (Turkish?), an Ovido arsenal crest and date on the receiver, and an Ovido crest in a circle stamped on the butt stock. All visible serial numbers match and the rifle is in very good condition (full military configuration). All parts match in color and wear.

Does any one know if the crossed hammers and crescent/star stamps were used by the Spanish arsenals?

Are there any solid clues that would indicate a parts vs. refurbished vs. original rifle?

Can any one recommend a good source for information regarding these Spanish rifles?

Here are the pics.

I was thinking that the crossed hammers could be a Maltese cross that was poorly stamped. The star and moon look different from the Turkish mausers I see on line. Any thoughts?

The crossed hammers are Chilean in origin. Standard Chilean inspector mark.

I don't know what the "moon" and "star" stamp is. Doesn't look Turkish to me. It looks like maybe a poorly struck marking of some sort?
 
I found these pics while researching this rifle. One is of an original condition Spanish M93 and the other is a Turkish M93. The star and moon on my rifle is most likely a partial stamp of the star in a circle.

As for the crossed hammers being a Maltese cross, I'm not really sure. I did find one other Maltese cross stamped on the cocking piece so I posted the pic as well.

Would you happen to know if the Chilean M95 front bands were stamped in the same manner? This rifle seems to be in its original condition except for that front band marking.

Any Chilean M95 owners have any pics they could share?

I don't own any Chilean m95's but have seen pics of them with the front band marked exactly like that and in the same location. I can post some pics of the crossed hammers on my Chilean 1912 if you'd like.
 
I agree jbmauser, it is definitely a Chilean band.

I looked up the Chilean mausers and found the same stamp, in the same location as the one on this rifle.

So much for this being in original condition. It's a nice piece though. I may still keep it since I haven't really seen a Spanish M93 in this condition with the stock markings intact.

No problem! You do indeed have a nice Spanish Mauser there. Definitely a keeper and the proper front band shouldn't be too hard to find if you wanted to go that route.
 
I have the maltese cross on the bolt stop of my 1923 oviedo. She has been arsenal rebuilt atleast twice and is a definite Rif war and SCW vet. She is quite beaten up but works like a charm so my hats off to Mauser and the Spanish on building this tough rifle.

Your bolt sleeve is off a turkish contract 1893. It is likely Loewe interchanged parts at the factory considering the turkish 1893 and chilean 1895 are very close in design and it can be cost efficient to use left over parts. Looking at my rifle, she has some Loewe marked parts on her, including the rear sight sleeve so it is possible they recycled parts for new production at Oviedo. Does your bolt match?

I also noticed the chilean miner picks are on your safety as well.

My bolt does match. Every serial number I can find with the exception of the cleaning rod, matches. I don't see any signs of scrubbing on the bolt and the last three serial numbers are clearly stamped beside the star/moon stamp. I wounder if Oviedo was reusing parts from Loewe rifles and stamping to match? Have your Loewe parts been renumbered to the rifle?

The mark on the safety is a deeply struck "X" so I'm not sure what it's supposed to be.

How do you know your rifle was arsenal rebuilt twice? Is there a way to tell?
