Any one load the old 30-30 with 760/414?

Specifically for the 170gr flats. I found a few loads but they run up to 110% case capacity lol. I haven't tried compressing anything nearly that much yet.
I have Varget and WC-735 which will work well, but I got 8lbs of the 414 cheap so I'm trying to find what it works best in. Most of my cartridges it runs 80-85% capacity in, I generally like them a little fuller then that.

Depends what velocity you will be satisfied with. I have tried it, but moved back to faster burners in my 30-30s.
The best velocity I got with a heavily compressed load of H414 [W760] behind a 170 FN bullet was 1930 fps.
|I know that having a good supply always tempts one, but LVRV is THE powder in the 30-30. :) Dave.

Forgot to mention, this velocity was in a 336A with the 24" barrel. Dave.

I wonder if it would be good with cast bullets? That's around the speed to push them I think? I have the shorter barrel 336bl.

Not really sure what is gained reloading the 30-30, especially for most of the posters here, that have a ....few....choices.

I tried it with the Hornady bullet, but in reality what i got was less expensive ammo. Just about any bottlenecked cartridge is going to outperform it. Less expensive, fun plinking or even cast for kids. All good reasons, but improving performance is really a waste of time with that small case capacity. JMO...YMMV.

Loading for accuracy, fun, savings, experimenting, and to always have the ability to make ammo for guns I own...same reasons I load for any other cartridge. Heck, I even load 7.62x39 which makes no sense at all ;)
