Any Ontario turkeys yet?

Thanks Doug. That helps.

I didn't mean guys from ON were turkeys, just odd that someone might shoot one mistaking him for a turkey.:D

Oh, we have some real turkeys here for sure - Jack Layton for example, and Mark Holland.

The danger of turkey hunting is the hunter gets completly camouflaged and hides as well as he/she can so a sharp-eyed bird doesn't bust him/her, then calls like crazy. So if some idiot is out for an armed stroll and keys in on the caller, the idiot puts the stalk on the cammed-up hunter. Sometimes with unfortunate results.

Hey Jay, if you and Fran want to check out the action around Camp Swampy please feel free.

Doug

Thanks Doug, Huntress & I appreciate the offer! I wonder how hard the area around Camp Swampy gets hit???

Will let you know if we get a chance to head that way!

Cheers

Great hunt last night...Jake and Tom came in just before dusk...As soon as he turned, he went down...Uncle Tom came charging in right at me to see what was happening and suffered the same fate...unfortunately I dont get to enjoy the rest of the season...Tom was 26 lbs....

Why wouldn't you enjoy the rest of the season? If you enjoyed that fascinating little bit of poaching, why stop now?

I won't even bother with the "26 lbs" crap...

Got this guy this morning!
weighed in at 21lbs
beard 10 1/4"
Spers 1 1/4"

Looks like this morning was eventful for at least a few turkey hunters! My partner shot a very nice tom this morning just before 7 am.

I saw two things: sweet #### all and nothing............

I got two...Not sure what they weighed...Pretty big beards but didn't measure them. Too late now they got thown in the bush with the guts, and stuff.

Went out again this morning, NO gobbling, not even a bird sighted... But, the farmer did shoot a jake on Thursday afternoon, lucky! He also said he's been seeing them around quite a bit & noted the lack of gobbling this year... Only thing I can think of is that it has been the WETTEST spring on record for us... Thoughts???

Might chase 'em tomorrow morning... Not sure yet...

Cheers
Jay

I heard gobbling all over the place. Two toms were parading around, but didn't seem too interested by two single hens that ran accross the field. The hens didn't seem interested in them either though.

Buddy was out this morning in the blind I used a couple days ago. He saw a tom and a jake, both well out of gun range, neither of them gobbled or strutted, completely quiet.

BUT!!!! They went past a little point of the bush, same as last time he saw them, and now my blind is set up there. Maybe tomorrow............:D

I had some gobbling this morning, think there must have been 4 toms out there based on where the calls were coming from. Seems to be tons of birds on this farm I'm hunting. Not as vocal as they were on monday though. I did manage to call 2 in to me though and was able to harvest 1. Very happy that there's meat for the freezer. Could never get tired of that high of calling a bird in like that, took him at about 40 yards. I had another tom taunting me after I had packed up and was heading home. He looked so sweet, out there at 80 yards. I knew I couldn't touch him today though, but did some scouting to figure out where to set up next time I can get out.

Can't see the game seals on them, but I am sure that one must be yours and one the other guy's...................like you did not SHOOT both of them, you just got the second one from your buddy to eat, right? Since all of us know that it is illegal to shoot two turkeys in one day.

Shot a day apart.....I guess nobody has heard of properly hung and aged fowl.
