any PARA owners??

Before buying mine, I spent two days in the shops dry-firing every 1911 I could get my hands on. To me, the natural grip, balance, and that unique trigger are the reasons to buy a 1911. I checked fit and finish, sights, and trigger feel. I believe that these are the key differences in 1911s.

I decided that for the money, the Para SSP had the best trigger feel for the price, out of the box. It falls into that large plus-or minus $1000 range. However, its trigger felt like that of a more expensive gun. It had that smooth pull with that "glass rod breaking" feel.

Also, I like the idea that I support a Canadian manufacturer.
 
I have 2 Para's and love them. One reason I did buy it is because its made in Canada.

The only draw back ( if you get double stack ) is the poor design of the 10 round mags and there price.

What will you be using it for?
 
I did the something dry-fired every 1911 that I saw. Its going to be use for targets or display. They have a few models
 
I have a 1911 SSP and now that the bugs are worked out it is OK. Don't rely on their warranty for anything although you will be impressed with the verbage, it ain't reality. It is accurate enough. Warranty handling left me with a real bad impression. I too bought it because it was Canadian. I got the distinct impression that they really don't care if they sold another gun in Canada.
Would I buy another? Never!
 
Sold my P 14 to my son. Gun now has over 5,000 rds through it and it runs like a clock. My SSP has been flawless. I have two on order as we speak - a Todd Jarrett and a Tac Five. Excellent quality for the money and Canadian made.

I have a SSP and I thought it was a good value for the money. Mine shot about 4" low at 15 yards from the onset. I tried compensating for it and finally contacted Para about it after about 1000 rounds. The rep blamed me for not knowing how to sight a pistol properly and told me to put another 'few thousand' through until I got used to the sights. I tried to explain to him that I've been shooting handguns for over 20 years but he just stuck to his recommendation. I put on a set of Novak's Extreme Duty rear sights and solved the problem. Enough said, currently I'm satisfied with my SSP as it has been reliable and accurate but I won't buy another Para product based on my experience. They, literally, shot themselves in the foot with me.....

That's the way I shoot my semi-autos. On my Glocks and Sig the white dot covers the target and I'm hitting the target where I want but the Para just shot low with the factory rear sights and for me to hit the target where I wanted the white dot had to be aimed quite a bit above the point where I wanted to hit. It did shoot low, honest it did!! :redface: :bangHead: :p
 
I believe you. I had the same problem with my Beretta Elite II and its Novaks. Those who know say that some incorrect rear sights got into the mix. I had to order another sight from Novak to solve the problem.

So, I wonder....
 
I used to have a Para P1445 ltd . I never had to deal with Para directly nor did I ever have any concerns with the pistol .
It worked excellent for the time I used it ( 2 years ) and it was heavily used when I got it .
