Any parkerizing solution recipies out there?

I don't know what it would cost, but you could try this: Bend a piece of stainless steel sheet into a trough, then weld plates on the end and Voila, a long tank.

That would be ideal but I don't have a TIG welder. I have a Mig and an Arc. Mig would work but I would have to buy new wire and different gas. I know how to TIG just haven't bought the welder yet.

I am going to stay away from Pyrex glass dishes because I know that they can break. My dad told me he shattered on on the stove once.

I remember seeing rubber stoppers somewhere that would have been perfect for plugging the barrel but I can't remember where I saw them. Might have been the Dollar store.

I know that labratory supply stores would have the black stoppers for sure. I can't see it hurting to test the yellow earplugs. A good test would be to slip a piece of paper down a steel tube, stuff the ear plugs in the end and then put it in the bathtub for a bit, if the piece of paper is wet, they don't work, if it's dry............

I think if you took the sheet metal to a welding shop, they wouldn't charge you too much to weld on the end plates.

I've never heard of it......which isn't to say it's not possible....
Maybe if you used red iron oxide instead of zinc oxide? ?? But I think it would come out more of a rust colour than red....if it worked at all.

Short answer is no, lol.

Ear plugs wont work...its a 12g

......really big ear plugs....?

Ya, in that case try a lab supply store, they should have a bunch of different sizes for flasks and beakers.

I had been thinking of red iron oxide too. At worst I'd want red, so could work. Rust could be ok too.

I thin, if I could find a metal that comes out white it would be a good start, and then powder and combine with red iron oxide. I won't hijack this thread any further though.
