Any pistol suggestions for the soon to be Single Stack IPSC Division?

Tight budget - get the SAM 191145E from Wolverine (~$450)

Mid budget - STI Trojan

If budget isn't an issue I'd order a fully custom SV, Nighthawk, Ed Brown etc... but be prepared to wait until next season or the one thereafter to receive it.

I already have a .45 Ranger II and that's what I'll use for now.

I'm eyeballing a STI Trojan with F/O front sight & ambidextrous thumb safety (options).
.40 S&W for reason stated by Madness.

... Would the SIG TacOps be legal for this?

No rails allowed.

16. Handguns must be based on and visibly resemble the classic 1911-genre design. This means a single-stack, one piece metal frame, and a dust cover (without an accessory rail) which has a maximum length of 75mm when measured from the leading edge of the dust cover to the rear of the slide stop pin. Magazine well openings cannot exceed a maximum outside width of 35mm. Compliance is checked by way of a 35mm wide, and at least 5mm deep, notch carved into the outside of the box, or by use of a ruler or caliper, as approved by the officiating Range Master.

17 Prohibited modifications are slide lightening cuts, weak hand thumb rests and slide rackers.

18. Permitted modifications are those of a cosmetic nature (e.g. custom grip panels, scrimshaw or similar surface engravings, checkering or serrations etc.), replacement single or ambidextrous thumb safeties, and any open sights (which may be embedded into the slide).

19. Magazines accessible to a competitor during a COF must not contain more than 8 rounds (for Major power factor) or 10 rounds (for Minor power factor) at the Start Signal.

wtf, why would cuts to the slide be a problem ? it's about being single stack, isn't it ? who cares about other mods... who makes up this s*@t
I can't even use my colt that I've shot std. division for past 15 yrs.. in single stack cause of all my upgrades....??!! Oh well, I'll just shoot it sometimes in std.. get the dust off of it and give my sti a break.

Can I get a .40 bull barrel and mags to fit the exist'n .45 frame and slide ? how many rounds can i get in .40 single stack, at least 9 ?

Read the USPSA rules, they had a SS division first, specific things not allowed are slots or hole milled in slide, bull barrels, and race holsters and there's a weight limit of 43 oz.
IPSC allows bull barrels but not frame accessory rails, and no weight limit or holster restriction in IPSC.
Neither allow milling slots or holes for slide lightening, thumb rests or slide rackers and magazine capcity restrictions (8 Major, 10 Minor)

thats nice, everyone builds sight trackers, then they need to go build a new top end. should have just made it the same right from the start

Depends on how they rule the sight tracker, if I call that cut in the slide (the cut for the sight rib) a slide lightening cut, then it's prohibited.
