Any Plans for a .308 AR? MAJOR UPDATE MAY 8 2014

Speaking of pics...

Does it look anything like... this?

sr25_ecc.jpg

(minus the dust cover, of course)

Even kinda' similar? Cuz if it does, I'll take two! ...no, wait... make that three. Yup, three! One for the range. One for the cottage. And another one just... well, just because.

It could look something similar to that depending on what furniture you dress it with.
We still have a TON of re-design and refinement, but it was fun running a hundred rounds through it yesterday.

Alberta Tactical I hope I can afford this but even if not I've got a project gun I'm going to be sending to you guys sometime soon. I've read nothing but awesome things about ATR.

Oh... and btw moar pics!

It's not enough of a picture and I found a couple minor concerns but we'll see how it looks after the next design revisions are displayed.

Any chance we might be able to see this in 8mm mauser?

It says prototype on it, they explained they need to do more work on it, of course there are going to be areas of concern that's part of development. I have to ask, why 8mm Mauser? And how do you plan on feeding it out of an SR25 magazine?

Well if you understood what I read, you would notice I mentioned interest in seeing how it looks after the design revisions. I'm also not new to the development of hardware, but thanks for the refresher.

8mm is far too long for the first gen AR10 magazine, or any magazine intended for .308 cartridges. It would mean a longer upper and lower receiver to accommodate 8mm mauser, and either a new designed magazine or us something like the FN49 magazine, but I'm curious to the possibility of getting one.

I guess anything is possible if you have money, it would require a lot of it I am guessing

GREAT NEWS!!
Our semi auto 308 that we call the Modern Hunter has been deemed NON RESTRICTED:dancingbanana:

Now before we get deluged with all of the how much $$, when is it available and all the other million questions, let me be very clear. We sent in a "prototype". Now we need to refine it and test the hell out of it so that we know we can supply a reliable and accurate rifle. We do NOT want a rerun of what was seen in the early offerings of a competitors rifle.
Realistically IF we had them available for sale late this year I would be amazed, we figure 2015 will be the year that these actually become available, which is really not that far away as we are already nearly 1/2 through May. Good God where did 2014 go?

What I can tell you is this rifle will accept most AR10 furniture and uses either 308 P Mags or the newer style AR10 mags.
It employs direct gas impingement and is side charging similar to the FN FAL. The trigger is single stage match style only.

We will not have the prototype back from Ottawa for a couple of weeks, so please don't ask for photos,I will post some once we have the prototype back, just so folks can get an idea of what we are making.

So, In Accordance with the above highlighted statements, where are the pics?:)

What kind of mags is the rifle using? I'm hoping it's Pmags. Sorry if it had been asked must have missed it.

I was at ATRS on Friday and they were kind enough to show me the prototype, you can tell it will be a good product when they are all said and done. Unfortunately they would not take my money...

I will certainly be saving up to buy one of these when they have them ready to go.

details??

The more I think about it, the less likely 8mm is possible.

Still, I would be very happy with a AR10 style rifle with a 18.5" barrel in .308 that can happily cycle all available .308 loads from 125gns and up.
