any pre rut tips?

Wear a nice shirt, and your best shoes (shoes get noticed!), shower; but go easy on the cologne, she likes to smell you, but don't make it the only thing she smells. Use eye contact to show that you're listening, and ask open ended questions that make it seem like you are interested.
Don't forget condoms; but make sure they are not expired!

Be careful when you're in a spot on the trail or near the bedding and feeding area that your buck uses. If he busts you and you don't nail him he may change his pattern and it will be tough to dial in on his habits again. They get smarter every time they're spooked.
Don't shower for a week or two before you go out.
Forget about warsh'in behind the ears either.
Best you smell like the bush and don't use
stinkie soap or hair shampoo.
Forget the after shave as well.
Heck, if you're at all serious, roll in some wet fresh
oozing cow patties.

A little light rattling seams to work at this time of year as well.
instead of smelling like body odor and old sweat .... You should start hunting the wind.
Also, when your hunting gear is not being used toss it in a garbage bag with branches, leaves, dirt, grass, sage.... ect..

Pre rut tips..
set up some cameras! if you can, yiu will get a good idea of whats around, i find the deer to be very alert analot harder to hubt for big stags.
i did alot of pre rut hunting for fallow deer, which is my equivelant to WT... but used my time as scouting as i really only wanted one stag from this patch, an that would be the biggest i can find!
i passed alot of deer early as if i knew of a worthy trophy, come the rut he wont be far from there.
turns out i hunted 3-4 days a week for 3 weeks!
i put a cousin an friend onto their first buck, one the week prior to the start if the rut an one in the rut.. the week prior the friend had an oppertunity which ended with me having an absolute stonker in my crosshairs but as a "guide" i couldnt crack it infront of him.. an that was the beginning of a cat an mouse game that lasted 2.5 weeks until my final chance to hunt an We met again.. So far happiest day hunting! and best rut ive done.
