Any reason not to take the "simon sleeve"/grenade-launcher sleeve off of a CC 15.7?

When I swapped flash hiders on my Colt 15.7 a while ago, I discovered that the sleeve on the end of the barrel slides right off (imagine my surprise!) So, with that in mind, is there any good reason not to take this "simon sleeve"/grenade-launcher sleeve/whatever you want to call it off of a CC 15.7? Will removing it have any adverse effect on accuracy? It is very tightly fitted, but does come off easily, and appears to just add weight to the nose-end of the rifle. As I'm not going to be adding an M203 any time soon... well, it seems pointless.

MattK will probably chime in here. He will correct you and tell you it's not a simon sleeve, it's a CF spec M203 sleeve. The sleeve is suppose to improve the harmonics of the barrel, thus improving accuracy.

This ^^^ + the sleeve is something distinctly Canadian that distinguishes your limited edition rifle from the hundreds of thousands of AR clones currently in existence.

valid point, but the fact is, it doesn't NEED anything to distinguish it from the clones, because it's the real thing - like guys putting Cobra hoods, wheels, bumper covers etc on a Mustang GT, to try to get the look, vs swapping the wheels on a real Cobra for something the owner likes better.

Like the wheels in my example, the M203 sleeve is easy to return to factory configuration at any time :)
