I was looking at the pelican 1700 for my 10.5 NEA but the cheapest i can find it is $220 shipped, plus i gotta cu tthe foam. I also found a plano PLN-108360 hard case for 135$ shipped, which has pluckable faom, which is a good deal but searching threads these were on clearance in wal mart usa for 40$ however reviews sound like its worth $100. Any other cheaper options anyone is aware of ATM.

Underwater Kenitics is Edmonton had some Starlight cases on sale a while back for a good price. $169 for the 52" and $149 for the Tactical 38" case. Check them out and see if they still offer that. Great cases.

What exactly are you intending to do with the case?

If you're thinking just to and from the range to protect the rifle from bumps and scrapes during the drive then the Canadian Tire or the Wal-mart options work plenty fine and cost only $30 to $40.

If you're looking to air travel with your rifle a lot then the pelican's worth it, cargo handler's are none too gentle and air travel in of itself puts a lot of stress on carrying cases.

The Flambeau hard cases that Cdn Tire sells are pretty good value if you ask me. The Plano ones that Walmart and TSC sell are fine, but the latches don't have a satisfying snap when you shut them, and the plastic is not very sturdy.

The Flambeau cases on the other hand are much sturdier and thicker, and the latches give that nice snap when they shut. They also have 4 locking points. For an AR, I would recommend the "Oversized Single Gun Case", as the regular "Single Gun/Rifle Case" is not very pistol-grip friendly, and that goes double if you have a foregrip installed. I picked one up yesterday actually, they're $29.99 regular price.

Note that you want that model above (with oversized in the product description) and not the regular single rifle case below that goes for $19.99.

If it is for range use, skip the flambeau crap (they are junk) and go with a decent soft-shell discreet case.

Just a reminder, those Can tire cases aren't ideal for 2 guns (in case you're like me and want to carry AR and shotgun for 3-gun)

I might just look into the Starline cases at UK in Edmonton!

Thanks!

I checked thier site and found no mention of the Starlight cases. I am not sure if they still offer them anymore.

I have a number of UK cases and they are a great case. I would love to have something from them for a rifle case (2 guns). I will try to search thier site more to see what I can come up with.

Hey Sapper043,
go to underwaterkeneticscanada dot com.
Select the button called 'cases', and scroll right to the bottom. There are 2 sizes, 38" and 52". The 52" you can easily fit 2 rifles in it.

I have a 38" that I have not used (new without a cardboard box,), if you would like it, PM me and we can work out a deal. I'm in Edmonton, AB.

I ended up ordering the pelican 1700 case with foam. shipping,taxes,duty/customs came to $219 total. For that price I couldn't refuse a case like that which will last forever and allow me to carry my sig 226 and ar-15 plus goodies together to the range. But I think I am still going to go with the cheaper case linked here for my shotty.
