any reccomendations for small hands?

You also need an m93 for plinking, it's perfect for small hands. Full size, the tt33 is the smallest I've seen. Makes my sr9 seem jumbo sized.

My hands are almost the same measurements. I shoot the Beretta PX4 DA/SA comfortably with the medium backstrap. That gives me a nice grip and positions my trigger finder good for the double action pull. I also shoot the G17 Gen 4 with no backstrap (i.e. smallest grip size) and have no problems. My advice is to not buy anything without trying it first, as hard as that is to do. Even if it fits your hand well that is only one part of the equation. I added rubber grip tape to the PX4 as the shape of the grip fits great but is a touch slippery on the recoil. I had to change my draw a bit for the Glock as I was cheese grating my strong hand thumb with the slide.

Ambidextrious Mag release on the trigger guard, you can use your middle finger to release the mag. Good ergonomics and interchangeable back straps on the grips.
 
Since you show your location as Vancouver you should take a trip over to DVC Ventures and actually shoot a lot of the different options. Holding it is one thing but you may not be able to optimally place your trigger finger to shoot the gun well. A magazine or two through a bunch of options will give you a much better idea of what fits and what works.

Give them a call and explain that you want to try a lot of different guns and switch frequently. Ask them when their more quiet times are so you will be able to switch the guns out frequently like this.

My hand is small too and about the same size, maybe a tiny bit smaller. I tried P99 and found the mag release is kinda awkward to use and hard to press. I am currently shooting M&P 9mm with medium back strap and found it very comfortable and easy to shoot.

P99 fits my hand perfectly with the smallest backstrap on it. The mag release is great too... any experienced shooter with good taste will tell you that its a very convenient set up.
 
I'm surprised Rocket Surgery hasn't weighed in on the subject...
If you believe him his hands are so freakishly small he can only shake hands with children without risking injury! ;-)
 
thanks for all the input, after a shi* tonne of going around different stores and handling a plethora of different models and brands, i've decided to go with the CZ P07 duty. I've rarely ever heard of anyone complain about CZ and the price is well within my budget. the springfield XDM was the next most comfortable fit but the price point handed the victory over to the CZ. Though i've heard there are issues with the .40 s&w models, i also hear the 9mm versions are problem free.
