Hey folks,
Been searching around here trying to find recent info regarding the potential reclassification of the CZ/VZ858 rifles.
I certainly know that Wolverine got shafted importing some of these units, incurring a HUGE storage fee from Lufthansa in the process which is nothing short of tragic and will no longer be importing them - and I can't rightly say I would blame them either...
I'll apologize in advance if I missed something obvious in my fruitless search for info here in the forums and by no means want to
.
See, I own both a Swiss CG and a VZ858 and a brother just can't seem to win for trying...
From what I understand, both of these rifles, which were fine for years, were thrown into question because of individual units, or shipment batches, that were something different that what they were thought to be when purchased - as in, somehow different internally and raising the Federale's eyebrow as possibly being "easily modifiable".
I know the SA situation, so I'm not going down that road because that's already been discussed.
What I couldn't seem to figure out here, is whether or not BOTH CZ and VZ rifles are potentially up on the proverbial chopping block. I understand that CZs tend to be older stock manufactured for military use, but that the VZs are newly manufactured in a different facility, exclusively as semi-autos. I can certainly see that the firearms lab would tend to make the case for these rifles being of the same "family" and group them all under the same label to be questioned. But, really?
Again, I know Wolverine is done with these things and will no longer be importing them and understand why. I think it's great that they saw fit to bring these to the Canadian market and we should all be very grateful and thankful to them for having done so.
So, to get down to it:
1) I was wondering if anyone out there knows for sure if the CZ and VZ were lumped into the same category as far as potential reclassification?
2) If these rifles are given the A-OK by the firearms scientists in white coats, if anyone would continue to import them into Canada?
Just couldn't find anything here in the forums so, much appreciated to anyone who can shed some light on this or point me in the right direction...
If not, then I guess we may all have to wait until after the next election to find out.
