Hi all.

Looking for a bandolier for shotgun shells. What does everyone else have, are they happy with their purchase? Would they change their mind?

Thanks you for your input.

I find elastic loops to be a pain in the ass, almost always being slow to draw shells from as well as to load in the first place.

Leather loops are much better on both counts, although they are expensive if you want a quality setup that holds more than 6-8 rounds.

I typically run a 6 round leather belt loop for speed, along with an Olongapo Outfitters Shotgun Grab and Go pouch if I need more rounds.

Other solutions ?

Those belts at Flahertys are sold out. I got some last year at Wallys - here in Moncton one of the Wallys was clearancing them for $2.99 - I bought the last 3! So try your local Wallys and CanTires, They're usually a bit more $$, but common at CT. Or maybe BassPro?
As an alternative, I've found YouTube vids on making your own Speed-carrier with either 'Terry clips' or office 'binder clips'. The OEM carriers start at about $50 USD, if you can get them shipped to CAN. A lot handier than the elastic bands if you're in a hurry. Going to be a Winter project to build a few.
Also and option is to make a 'speed-loader' with 3/4" ID CPVC, with a guiding tip like these 'Arredondo 4 Round Aluminum Speedloader' on US website. Also a possible Winter proj.
Right now I keep one bandolier loaded with a mix in case I have to grab and run. My shorty-14" is good for 'paint can' at 50yds with slugs and #7 @ 10yds, too.

BTW - the shell carriers that look like mineature can dispensers have been noted to 1) Not hold shells securely and 2) be relatively 'fragile' if used often.

The best I've had was from Tactical Tailor, but was a hint pricy. It really made for the best belt. For throwing over your shoulder, or just to stack ammo, I've come to appreciate the one from Mossy Oak. Solid construction, good elastic, and a bomb proof buckle. That said, there's nothing quite like a leather cartridge belt.

I have had bandoliers, belts and have now ended up with a folding pouch holdes 24 shells . Pull down the top half for the first rows, pull down again and the pouch is wide open . Elastic type bands holding the cartridges . Can be on a belt or vest frount ( I have one set up on a tactical belt with a dump bags on the other side .) I just find it easier than tugging them out of a belt or having to re ajust a bandolier thats allways bottom heavy and swinging around . Shot shells are heavy and it really helps to keep them all in one place thats handy and dry no worries about them snagging or getting lost . Way easy to separate them ( slugs on the sides ,buck at the bottom and shot on the top panel )
