I just got my first AR, a Norinco QCB 14.5", the gun runs fine and does not have any issues. The thing is i do not know enough about AR's to know what could use improvement. I do not want to put a lot of furniture or money into this gun, but I am always open to improvements. I want to stick with iron sights for now and I really like the look of the carry handle. I tried a Barska reflex sight that came with the rifle and I did not like it. Also I will be using it for IDPL matches.

Nothing wrong with running iron sights - everyone should know how to shoot irons, and surprisingly many don't. The 2 things that you might want to look at first are the pistol grip and the flash hider, there are better designs for both that will make shooting more comfortable, and easier. Beyond that, start looking at spares - a bolt rebuild kit and set of springs are always good to have. Beyond that, more mags and more ammo are all you really need.

What do you guys think of the factory iron sights on the Norc compared to some of the other after marked iron sights out there?

You can get a narrow front post for all AR's for target shooting, the rear sight on the Norc AR is just fine - nothing like the issues people have with Norc M14 sights. Again, target rear sights are available. The flip up back up sights are just that - back ups for a red dot or scope.

The best bang for you buck upgrades on a norc AR would be a new trigger and a red dot sight like a ''Vortex SPARC'' on the low end or a ''Aimpoint pro'' on the high end , Barska is garbage ..
