Any reports from FTX lever bullet users?

I loaded a bunch of them up in 160 grain for my 30-30.
They shoot very well, but never took any game with them, so cannot comment further.

So far I have done some loads for my .308, 30 -30, and had a buddy do some up for my .45-70. I have shot one deer with the 160gr .308 factory ammo. Head shot @ 60 yds right through. I have compared the factory loads with the max loads by pulling a factory .30-.30 and weighing the powder charge. It is actually heavier by a couple of grains than Hornadys max charge on thier spec sheet. I have not shot any game yet with the .30-.30. The .45-70 has had one small workup load done before the leverrevolution was available.Powder used was H4198. 46, 46.5, 47, 47.5 respectively. At 47gr I had a pass through @100yds. Its going to be interesting once I try the lever powder. Sorry I don't have much info for live game. Cheers.

I've shot three whitetails with factory .444 LeverEvolution in the last
three years. Results have been dramatic. I've heard all three hit, all
between 50-70 yards. None have needed a second shot.

One shed its jacket on a broadside shot. A piece of jacket ended up
in the throat area, another down by the pelvis. The one near the pelvis
may have worked down there during dressing though.

I don't shoot factory leverlution but I do load the same Hornady 325gr FTX bullet @ 1850fps that Hornady uses in this ammo in my T/C Contender carbine in 45-70.

Works pretty good but the bullet is known to have a thin jacket and is not designed to withstand hits on heavy bone.

Coastal Blacktail shot 10/05/11.

I shot a coyote with my muzzle loader last year during the late season muzzle loader hunt. The bullet was a 325gr FTX with 61gr of IMR 4198. The distance was 160 paces. I hit him broadside, he was mush and I know this is hard to believe, but I could not find an exit hole. It could have come out his mouth but I can't be sure. If it did it would have to have taken an abrupt change in direction. I am going out this morning to see if I can repeat the feat on a deer. If I get one I will let you know it works out.

Deer in the brain bucket. No exit. BIG entry. Factory 45/70 LeverEvolution.

Groups nice too, 10 rounds free hand 50 yards.

I shot a 3 year old beef cow in the head with one 2 years ago from about 50 feet away. (325 FTX from a 45-70) The bullet was totaly desroyed and only penetrated a couple of inches. (Normally a cast bullet will penetrate a foot or more) I have no question it would be one hell of a deer bullet. On moose I would feel a lot more comfortable with a good cast bullet or a Hornady 350 grain RN.

Any big game bullet that will not go through a mangy coyote, is not a big game bullet, despite what you paid for it.

I shot a decent sized Whitetail last year at about 75 yards with the 160gr .30-30 Leverevolution, went through one shoulder, a lung and exited the other side behind the shoulder with a big hole. Worked good for me
