I own a Quad and was wondering if there were any other Sako owners (different models) and whether or not they liked the brand.

I've bought and sold a bunch of guns over the years but I won't be getting rid of this one. It's a very nice rifle to shoot.

Homesteader nice pre 78 and very nice 78 hornet you got there, very jelous!!! I have a Sako 78 wich was almost exactly the same as the 72 and he is right a very accurate gun, wish they still made them. 2nd gun is a P94S Range I will never sell this gun its that good and everyone who has fired it asks if they can buy it!!! Now on th topic of the new Sako you could not get me to even think about buying one as they are 1 ugly 2 have interchangable barrells 3 have plastic everywhere. Everyone I know who has bought this has thrown everthing away except the action and put new parts on it to get it to shoot well. This not a cheap rifle, so I expected more for my money, and the sporter with wood stock and open sights comes close to 2K, thats crazy when the finfire hunter was 1K a few years ago with the same options, but I am not opinionated or biased at all;) I am just getting tired of not being able to bu a qulity 22rf for around the $1000 mark here in Canada( where have all the 22 rifle manufactures gone???) regards Dale in T-Bay:nest:

Good looker. What rings did you use?? I'd like to mount a 30mm scope on one when it shows up ;), and am having a hard time finding them.

Heres mine..22 mag ,burris signature rings, luepold vxII 3*9 ultralite.plan on switching the rings from medieum to low soon.
I grabbed this one a few years ago before the prices jumped.

First two shots from 78 yards are on the left side of the target, made a quick adjustment and the third was perfect.Shots taken from the kneeling position.

Sako's

I bought a used P94S Finfire off the EE last year,

Mounted a 6400 Elite on it< ya overkill, but was
only good scope I had left in stock.
used 30mm weaver rings with a adapter to the
22 dovetail and works very nice ,bit too high power
scope I think it is up to x30.
Mags are high priced.
Friend of mine had 2 NIB finfires instock from a
collector last year - both are sold .

BTW Taylor, I wish we had some of your snow in southern Sask.

I have a Quad with the 22lr barrel only. I think that it will be my rimfire for a very long time. Had to get the butt lengthened with a rubber recoil pad for proper length though, and I've ordered a metal bolt handle, and aluminum floorplate.

They are Burris rings if I remember correctly. Not cheap, but very nice.

Ive got a set of "high" 11mm rings - I forget the manufacturer but they're high quality. Has anyone located and used a set of "low" rings with a small diameter scope? I intend to get something in the range of a fixed 4X, perhaps a Leupold. My current Bausch and Lomb 3000 is a 4-12 variable and never the leaves the 4X slot (she's my trapping gun)

My first rifle was an 85 Synthetic Stainless. First shot fired while hunting dropped my first deer. I'm very happy with it :) Even in the store it felt much more solid and smooth than anything else they had.

EDIT: Forgot that he won't see this because he's "sensitive". Oh well :/

Well, I had sold my Fin Fire Model 94 that I had for about eight years.
Bought and sold a CZ that shot pretty good and then bought a VTR that I just couldnt get the feel for. So I sold it too.
Found a guy in northern Sask. who was selling his Fin Fire so I bought it. Looks and feels like my first one.
He has a Sako Range as well, but decided to keep that one for him and his son.
I have yet to get out in the gravel pit with the new Fin Fire, but am confident it will shoot the lights out of quarter sized targets at 50 M .
Tight Groups All.
