I'm thinking about buying my dad a hunting rifle this year and am seriously considering the Savage American Classic 114 in 270 Win.

Can anyone provide any feedback on this rifle? I have never handled one, however, the few pictures I have seen suggest that this a nice all around hunting rifle. I am aware of Savage Arms' tradition of accuracy so I am mostly curious about the fit, finish, durability, magazine fit, and changes / features to look out for (accuTrigger etc.) and best place to buy. I pack a T3 7mm while hunting so that is likely what I would compare the Savage against.

Of course a few pics of your own rig would be welcome and appreciated as well!! :dancingbanana:

Thanks guys / gals!!

Most accurate rifle i have ever owned, nice fit and finish, the only issue is the really long action scope mounting can be a pain. I would buy another one in a heartbeat.

I have a model 14 Euroclassic in 308 - i think the only diff from the american is the stock style, and it has iron sights on it.. Had it one year and taken a moose and a deer with it. shot 1" groups with factory ammo out of the box, have whittled it down to 3/4 ' groups with handloads. I am sure it shoots better than i do.......
My only complaint is that it is such a great all-round rifle and works so well and handles so nice that i have no excuse to by more at the time :p
