Any scrapes,or rubs in your area?

I'm in Thunder Bay, and like Daniel said... the bucks are moving.. I have 6-7 rubs in a 20 foot radius around my tree stand and I have a scrape line with 6 or so on a trail( albeit not very pronounced)

yesterday morning my hunting buddy's son shot a small 6 piont and he was stinking pretty bad...

after 35 hrs in the stand this yr I have seen and passed up a total of 19 deer( granted some are the same ones)...

last night I had a small buck chasing a doe about 50 yrds out and make no mistake.. she did not want him chasing her like that....another 2 weeks and things will change I would imagine

West central Alberta they are "digging". I have been putting trail cams out on scrapes and getting some nice pics.

Have a good one!

Saw a Doe crossing the river this morning while waiting for Geese/Ducks that never came. Heard Turkey Galore, damn things just wouldn't shut up.

Saw a Buck, Doe and Fawn less then a week ago all in close proximity to each other. Doe and Fawn booked it across the soy field, buck was a little smarter and used the fence line to get distance.

On Howe Island off Kingston where I bow hunt, we have been seeing pre-rut behaviour for over a week, but no rubs or scrapes. Yesterday morning I saw a buck chasing a doe, but she wanted no part of him. Kind of reminded me of home..........:p

Something I saw a couple weeks ago that I NEVER saw before was a button buck with his nubs rubbed bloody and raw. I guess he has a surplus of testosterone............ Kind of reminded me of the good old days..........:p

I hunt on 63B and while there is no sign of any scrapes or rubs yet, but there are lots of deer. Driving east on backroads (Panmure, etc.) to Highway 417 I saw field after field of 2-10 deer. Scary drive too, as many were in the ditches ready to cross.

A bit of a hijack, but I also saw plenty of turkey (unlike past years). I drove Highway 7 from Perth to Peterborough yesterday and saw several deer and dozens of turkeys as well. There is lots of wildlife - let's see how many end up in our freezers.

Well - I was surprised to come face to face with a turkey yesterday while grouse hunting north of Maynooth - its amazing how the range of these birds has expanded.
Yes Doug, all sorts of strange things happen here "north of 7"...

I was pullin' yer leg, Andy...........:p

I think that there are a few good ole boys in the back country that are not aware that wild turkey has a closed season.................

...........and you were talking about putting them in a freezer........:runaway:

I see now - I'm not so smart sometimes.

Lots of Hillbilly country around for sure - you know the "sound" hunters (who shoot at sounds), Hail Mary buckshot barrages and the like. I don't doubt that the odd Turkey gets capped by a 30/06 "in self defense".

Turkey is crazy right now. Saw about 40+ birds in the trees this morning, damn things wouldn't shut up.

On the plus side I've found my Turkey Hunting Spot!!!!

Yeah! Me too. I've had lots of turkeys stroll right under my tree stand in WMU 80.

I have one tree stand up guarding the field edge about 15 yds away from a well used trail just inside the bush - no scrapes or rubs in this area. I've sat in this one 2 mornings and one evening and haven't seen a deer.

I recently put up another stand about 250 yds into the bush - near the boundary of a swampy pine bush. I just checked in there tonight and it was scrape city - there were three huge areas ripped apart on the ground in the vicinity of this stand. There were two rubs on some larger trees - the heat in on!!!

I think I'll be using this one 100% of the time for the next few days - should be good for the shotgun hunt too....:D

Saw my first deer scapes here in WMU 65 on the 20th (Oct). Last weekend the scapes were all freshened with a few scrape lines showing. Still seeing less deer than other years.
Turkeys everywhere 9 in one field, 36 in another.
