One of my SIGS, a P226 9mm, and older model is not shooting properly. When I shoot the gun, from time to time I have to pull the trigger twice to get the gun to shoot the round. I have tried all kinds of factory and reloaded ammo. The firing pin is making contact with the primer, I have ejected the rounds many times to make sure the firing pin is making contact, and it does every time, but the round does not go off. This does not happen all the time, but it is more then the odd occasion. Anyone ever experience the same problem, or if not, anyone know what the problem and solution might be might be?

Thanks
Steve

Replace the Firing pin spring, or perhaps a good cleaning...could be just crud built up around the fpin and spring causing a "light stike"! I belive SIG recomends repacing all the springs every 5,000 rounds as well!

SIG issues

I am thinking spring issue as well. I am currently looking myself for a source of springs for my SIG as well.

I don't know how many rounds you have through it but it might be time. You can find out suggested maintenance schedule on the net if you look.

Wolffe should have the springs, and will ship to Canada (fully registered with US Gov and will file a proper exemption) quick service too.

The firing pin spring in a Sig retracts the firing pin AFTER it goes forward. Unless it has gotten stiffer while aging, that is not the problem. Most springs like other things in life get softer with age!

It is the hammer spring that controls how hard the firing pin is driven forward.

If you haven't done it already, I would clean out the firing pin channel, check the nose of the firing pin, and check to see if the firing pin safety is releasing all the way.

I am only a phone call away if you need help.

sell it

no really if it helps guys it looks like the hammer wasn't being drawn back fully before it dropped (watch him shooting last week)
