any sugestions on accurate 22 LR... bolt action?

I have a JW-15,not a bad rifle certainly a little rough in the metal finishing department seems fairly accurate with CCI ammo and Federal. In the process now of refinishing the metal ,already sanded the stock to better proportions. If you buy from Marstar and are not happy with the rifle they will refund or exchange it so you really have nothing to lose, for $160.00 it,s worth a try

+ 1 for older Mossbergs. I paid about $100 for my Mossberg 42m(c) and it has more than surpassed my expectations. It is a fantastic little .22 and they were all tapped for a side mount if you want to scope it later. The mount is available from Havlin Sales.

Shhhh quiet guys, as long as they keep spending money accurizing them modern space guns then we will keep having low priced mossbergs to play with. :p

But for the record I couldn't agree with you more.
Mossbergs old motto still stands true today..."more gun for the money". :)

I just got a TOZ-78-01 made by the Russion company Tula.I got it from a store called Gagnon Sports in Oshawa Ontario. They told me it was a Baikal gun but when I went looking online for Baikal 22's I could find nothing so I punched in TOZ-78 and discovered it was Tula so I baught one.I put a Tasco 3-9x32 scope on it and went shooting this weekend to sight it in.I'm telling you,at 50yds I was putting bullets through the same hole pretty consistently. At 75yds I was doing 1/4 to 3/8 inch groups. At 100yds I was well within 1 1/2 inches wherever I was shooting. Not bad for $299.00 and that was with cheap Walmart Winchester ammo.I'm no expert but I was happy.

Oh yeh,Hello folks I just joined.

I handled that rifle at Gagnon's, The stock was much nicer than the earlier TOZ-78's, it was MC style with a raised cheek piece and Schnabel style forearm. It should shoot as well as Winchester claims the Wildcat will.

There is a connection between "Baikal", "Vostok", and "Tula(Tulsky)" . I found the following info...

"The trade name "Vostok" was used by Tula for the export market as was the name "Baikal". The TOZ marking on "Vostok" branded rifles sometimes is stylised inside an inverted triangle on the receiver. Others are marked merely as "Vostok" or "Baikal" On such rifles may be found small proofs of a "T" in an inverted triangle. Apparantly there were phases in the USSR where the identity of the factory was purposely obscured."

$299 holy #### they used to sell for $100, less then a year ago!!! Can you post a pic i want to see it is the same rifle. And yes they are damn accurate, best $100 (worth three times that at least ;) )I ever put into a rifle.:D

That $100 price was a clearance at armrus. Normal price is up there! Sweet little rifle either way. My 2nd biggest firearm regret is not buying more than one. Don't ask what my biggest is as it might make me cry if I relive it.... :p

As soon as I figure out how to upload a picture,I will MPI.
Mine has a T inside the triangle and TOZ-78-01 on the reciever K98.
Ross B. did they tell you it was Baikal at Gagnon's?'Cause nowhere on the gun or the original box does it say Baikal but it does say Tula on the box. They called it a Baikal when talking to me.

I figured it was a good deal because it came with two ten and two five round mags as well as the adjustment tools plus I read that they are the same floating barell that they put on thier high end olympian decathelon .22 which kinda' makes sense the way it shoots off the bench.I don't feel like I got boned on the price although $100.00 would have been better then I could have spent the rest on whores and beer...just kiddin'.

Does it look like this...

You did ok. Before armrus went under they used to charge $272 for their regular price for the Toz-78, and the $100 at the end was only a special clearance price. I'm glad I got tipped off by the guys here and bought one of these for $100 at the time! :) Still prefer my Brno #5 and CIL/Anschutz 310 though.

MPI,it looks identical to the European TOZ-78 but without the black tipped forestock. It has a really nice walnut stock with a raised cheek rest.Very well made IMHO.
K98,I felt like it was a good deal compared with other stuff out there unless I wanted to pay a lot more for the same quality.

Yeah they told me it was a Baikal but I knew it was a TOZ-78 as soon as I looked at it. I think it's even nicer looking than the European 78, the forearm of the stock isn't black (or capped), and I like the Schnabel end that it has.
