Has any one seen any?

They're wading hip deep in it in 'freedom land' next door. I can't believe the U.S. prices. Can you imagine how much shooting we could do if we could buy ammo at those prices.:redface:

yup an rumor has it its from marstar its too much hassel to bring it into canada

even if they did those $79.00 case's of ammo would magically turn into $300.+ cases in canada.....

Yep, I saw Yugo from the 50's, surplus, corrosive, on sale for $19 per 300 and 1970's Romanian for $30 per 380. :eek:

CONTACT 148;
Well here we go again, are you saying we would gouge our Canadian clients ??

BTW, yes we are aware of the 8mm ammo in the USA who do you think sold most of the Yugo ammo to US importers ?

If it were easier to import ammo into Canada we would have done it, if you know something we don't we will gladly pay you to do it

John,

Have you had a more receptive audience with regards to mercuric primed ammo from the new regime, or is it still taboo?

John i did NOT mean to say YOU would charge that amount for sure just stateing fact in the price differences here and in the U.S

.308 ammo last year sold for $300.+ canadian a case same ammo was $99.00 OR LESS a case in the U.S

with exchange maybe I could see $150.00 a case but $300?? come on!

BTW you guys were NOT selling that .308

I dont understand the markup on ammo in canada sure we dont sell as much as the U.S market would. shipping from europe to the U.S or canada would be very close in cost.

The surplus ammo market in the US is very much like the Dutch auctions. Ammo is always cheapest when it first hits the market. Buy early, and buy often. The importer that brought it in is trying to fire it out the door as fast as possible. It costs a ton to ship and almost all the costs are upfront. The faster he gets it to the distributors in volume, the faster he makes his capital back.

Once the initial surge subsides, everyone hopes to have made a fair profit. Now that they are going to be sitting on the product for a while, the price rises slowly. Ironicly, raising the price slowly creates a second wave of sales, as people ##### and comparison shop, then realize the stocks are beginning to dry up.

Canada is a different story. With the smaller target market, and less capital to risk, importers bring in far less, and count on holding it longer which requires a larger mark up.

Johnone, please feel free to #####slap me if I'm off the mark here.
