any surplus or regular rifle in 30-06? bolt action

Just to make you cry Man In Black, Frank and I recently witnessed crate after crate of Springfield 1903a3 rifles go to the foundry.... The were brand new in the original crates.

Another case of of an over zealous government wanting to get rid of nasty weapons of war....

THE COCKER;

The day we were at the base they were making ready for the foundry the following materiel....In addition to the Springfields....

1917 Colt water cooled, in the crates, BARs brand new, MP-38s and MP-40s, 1919a4s,
Various models of Vickers, Lewis guns, Thompsons, etc, etc....
We left, it was too sad....

:eek: i actually want to cry. is there no way to stop them, i am guessing its too late by now :(

This is common, I recall when we bought the warehouses in Sarajevo, amogn our first in the former Yugoslavia back in 1985.

They had just sent severaoriginal German WW-11 vehicles to the foundy because they "did not run any more" these were left over from the filming of Kelly's Heroes and several other war movies which had been filmed in Yugoslavia....

We did manage to put and an end to these trips to the smelter.... And as a result purchased approximately 750,000 weapons of all types in the years that followed....
They were smart enough to see a good deal ($$)
