Any SVT-40's available?

Its surplus and the market is scarce. If you want one grab it at whatever price before it goes up. Its possible that someone can find a fresh supply, but its your gamble if you don't have one. Welcome to the world of surplus rifles.

SVT40 is a great rifle an essential if you have a lot of 54R mosin ammo.
Low recoil
Nice looking
Good history

Good for collecting. Even Sadam Hussain had some. They are really nice to shoot compared to the mosin as well which is either fun or painful depending on your style and attire.

Leverarms and/or EE seem to be the only reliable place to get them nowadays. If your buying your first one I'd recommend Leverarms. If you know what your looking for the go at it anyplace. Unless a new source shows up this rifle should begin to rise specifically in value.

I never saw podolsk on leveramrs website but perhaps they were there once or are unlisted stock. Podolsk SVT'S are essentially the same as izvesk and tula SVT'S except some of the millwork on the muzzle breaks seems to be a slightly different angle and higher quality finish slightly. This is a wartime production only rifle, few rifles in history carry the same designation. Of which podolsk were made in the lowest numbers in 40' and 41'.

If your looking for one for general range/hunting use go with a Tula or Izvesk with side rails (future options) and if possible for durability aim for an AVT stock as they are thicker and more durable. Horilka wrote an excellent FAQ to get you started identifying SVT markings and numbers made review that as well. It gets easier to identify a correct as made SVT vs a reworked refurb such as a 8 port barrel shroud fitted to a 4 port muzzle break (in that situation on part or another was replaced even possibly the barrel). Know that from month to month there were updates and reworks to this rifle as standards and specs changed through the war.

Hmm I have not been to their site recently
Leverarms does indeed have Podolsk rifles available for sale. The are $599 and $699 respectively if your interested in a high quality SVT go for the Grade A. I have 2 podolsk rifles 1 without rail (Horinka) and another with rails in an AVT stock that dispose what's said on boards here I believe to be an AVT less the trigger group. The metal work and finish on these rifles are better than both my Isvesk and Tula versions. All of mine are 1941 editions.
Now I am debating since Podolsk rifles do not seem as rare as originally I thought in Canada perhaps I should clean one of mine up and actually enjoy shooting them.
Which should I clean and shoot and which should I leave in Cosmo?
1- 1941 Podolsk no sniper rail (made btw Aug 16th and Sept 12 1941)
2- 1941 Podolsk AVT stock with sniper rail (made btw approx June and August 1941)

I have fired both my Tula and my Isvesk, both shoot well and after sighting in my Izvesk shoots 3" groups at 100 yrds after about 60 rds messing with it.

Link to podolsk at leverarms (have not yet been a customer from there store, I'm sure it's good though

Now we just need more readily avail 7.62 x 54R surplus ammo still in crates that we can buy. Fr9m what I read a few days ago even ISIS (geriatric jihadis was the article quote) are using Mosins to execute people. Send that ammo our way and save lives I will use it at paper targets on the range.
