Does anyone shoot and / or collect the Swedish ag42b Ljungmann ?

I've heard it's suppossed to be one of the most accurate milsurp semis available. Looking for opinions.

Also wondering what owners do for ammo? Is it readibly available commercially?

thanks :)

I just got one recently. Haven't had a chance to really test it, just a few rounds to see if goes bang.
There is a guy here that calls himself Ljungman. He would be a good guy to talk to.
Bosnian made ammo is available. Igman is the name.

I used to have one but traded it away!

You have to keep MV at around 2400 fps with a 140 grn bullet for best accuracy. Do not use hot loaded commerical ammo, it can wreck the extractor!!

I own one, and use it quite regularily.

As far as accuracy goes, I've found the Ljungmann to be more accurate that any of the other semi-autos of the day, though that may just be the examples I've had to shoot as well. On a good day, my Ljungmann will do 1-1.5" groupings, though it usually marks out around 2 inches.

As far as ammo, there's a good amount available, and for relativly cheap. I'd personally recommend hand-loading but that goes without saying. As far as commercial loads, my Ljungmann like Sellier & Bellot 139 grain, as well as the Igman 139's, both of which sell for around $12-15 a box depending on where you go. It performed well enough with the Federal and Winchester stuff, but neither were as good as the S&B, and both were far more expensive.

Personally, I'd say if you can, get one. They're fun to shoot, have no recoil, so you can shoot em all day and not be sore the next morning, and hey, it's fun watching them fling the brass 30 metres to the side. :D

For what it's worth, Doug Bowser (author of several milsurp books) claims it's the most accurate semi-auto milsurp - it's long, heavy and has good adjustable sights.

That might be true, but I shoot mine very little because milsurp ammo is very scarce, and it beats the hell out of my reloads (when I can find them  ).

I have a bit of (small flash-hole) Igman 139 I might just blow off with it next time I'm at the range (or at a Milshoot ;) )

i had 1,sold it when i got into black guns, mine averaged around 2" groups with 140 gr soft points from crappy tire and 3" groups with pmc 144 gr fmj ammo

ME ME ME! Check out the webpage. I recomend BELL ammo, but it depends on the particular rifle. Best thing though, is handloads if you do that. I've got as good as 1" groupings at 100yrds with Bell 139gr SP, but I had to do my part. The ol' Yamaha was a a good bench rest :D

Got one too. Don't shoot it much as you have to pack a lunch when you go out to pick up the fired cases. LOL

As for beating up the cases, there should be a rubber bumper clipped to the bolt carrier to prevent that. Often missing, but Gunparts Inc did have them.

The rubber bumper dosent help if your useing ammo that's too hot. The ejector will dent the bottom of the case and the mouth will usally be alittle crushed too.

I have owned 3 agb's. All shot very well. Have found them all finicky to reload. Bullit seating length the big issue for propper functioning. Keep loads on the low side as they will destroy brass. I have not seen surplus ammo for several years but there is some commercial ammo available. Use caution when trying to clear a failure to feed. (KEEP FINGERS OUT OF ACTION) I once had the bolt slam shut with my finger wedged between the bolt and the gas tube leavig the gas tube plugged with a chunck of flesh inside it. Over all the guns are good fun shooters.

I don't get it. I have no doubt that ag42b's are accurate, but why did they build them as a lefty? Or did I miss something?

Why do you think it was built for lefties? This is one of the most left handed friendly milsurps out there since you can run the action or flick the safety switch with either hand. The range knob is probably best suited for a right handed person, but I don't think it bothers anyone either way.
