Hehehe. That was what I was getting at - the action is sort of partly lefty. I know that you guys who own them and shoot them are used to it, but as someone interested in getting one, they seem a little weird.
I'll likely still get one if I can find one in really good shape for a decent price.
;)

As a left handed shooter, I love the fact that there so user-friendly. Now if they just wern't so darn picky about ammo...

AG42B's are usally fussy about what ammo you use in them. If you reload, this is not a problem, but if your like me and don't (yet), then you have to find a factory round that will shoot well in your particular AG42B. Key is, they usally like fast burning powers.

First ammo I shot in mine was Norma. Too hot. Casings would split, primers would be disloged from cases, cases would come out black and dented.

Then I tried winchester. Still to hot. Not as bad as the Norma stuff, but the cases were still getting banged up, the rifle rattled violently when fired, and accuracy was the pits.

Then I tried Bell 139gr SP's. PERFECT. Smooth loading/fireing and excentlent accuracy. It also shoots Milsurp well...when I can find it. I got a box of S&B Rounds I want to try too...if I ever get around to it, I hope they work as good as Bell....or better.

BTW, just because Norma & Winchester ammo dosen't work in my ag42B, dosen' mean it won't for all. Each rifle is different when it comes to ammo. I've known AG42B owners that shoot Norma and/or Winchester well, and ones who thik Bell is the pits.

Go figure.

Hmmm... interesting. Thanks! ;)

I found Norma hunting ammo sometimes causes problems with the extraction. There was also military stuff from sweden that was too high of pressure for that gun as well. The cases would stick. I shot a lot of Norma match grade ammo through mine and never had a problem. I saved the reloads for the bolt action rifle. The norma match grade ammo had the style of primer that wasn't conducive to reloading (can never remember which is which, boxer or berdan?). Happy to have just gotten my old M96 back.

If you shoot hot ammo, you also run the risk of breaking the extracter. I understand that you pretty much need three hands to change it!!! :D:D:D

Here's one for anyone to comment on. I picked up an absolutley mint 42b for 200$ (my wife still dosen't understand why I HAD to buy it, but at least she just rolls her eyes now instead of shouting. Maybe I'm finally breaking her in) I picked up a few boxes of Ingman and it shot very accurate when I did my part but wouldn't cycle the action till it warmed up. First five, stove pipe, failure to feed, stove pipe, ect. Next 5 bang bang bang bang bang. Went down, changed targets (holy @!#$@#! 3 of five less than an inch!!) Walked back to the range house, stove pipe, f to feed stove pipe ect. Next five fine.

Any comments? Also picked up some 140 grain hornady bullets, any recipes out here for imr 3031 or 4320? And brass recomendations?

Thanks all

PS Love the rifle, no recoil, smooth action. All I can say is that those sweeds must have LONG arms, I could happily shrink the pull by about 2 inches.

I had cleaned the bore well before I took it out, and stripped and cleaned it when I got home after. Wasn't sure whether or not the ingman was corrosive or not, and its a good way to learn the rifle. (almost managed to feed my thumb to it....) It seemed a little dry to me so I've given it a good dose of break free and we'll try it again..

Results to follow, thanks for the suggestion

Also sounds like you are using ammo to hot for the action. The AG42B need ammo of 140 grains with a mv between 2350 - 2450 fps. That is to cycle the action properly. Ammo for militry use in the AG42B was seperatly packed and marked for the troops carring the rifle!

I remember by thinking:
I have boxes of Boxer primers, but none of those damn Berdan type.
Kinda dumb but it works.
