Hello All - excited to share this 1919 Swedish Mauser Sporter I picked up in 6.5x55. It is numbers matching and really clean. Hoping to get some help identifying the proof marks; I did some research but the markings seem to be a bit different than what I'm seeing on the web.

What I know:

- "0" on the barrel means 6.5x55
- HK before serial is that it was inspected by Helge Kolthoff
- Serial number seems appropriate for 1919

Questions I have:

- What is the "OE" & "F" at the barrel?
- What are the markings under the receiver? (7, 6, CE, Eh, +, B)

Thanks for your help!

I can find no reference of the letters and numbers you have posted.
Except Helge Kolthoff as the main Inspection Office.
Could be any other inspection officer or Armourer inspector.
It would be difficult to find listings of " non-commission inspectors"
I did find reference to " + " which was used to show rejected parts, but could also just signifies that they were release from military production for other use. (Sold to civilians) or merely to indicate part was " removed from service"
Hope that helps.

Either in Baribal's sticky thread about Swede's (on CGN), or in the book "The Mauser in Sweden - Crown Jewels" by Dana Jones - those markings under the receiver - by "committees" ( I think) - like apprentices - who inspected the piece part way through manufacture and put their particular mark at each step in manufacturing process - piece was then good to go on to next step. I do not recall reading anything about those letter markings on the barrel.

There is alleged to be errors - I do not know - but if you are interested in Swede rifles, I recommend that book by Jones - has tables to ID serial numbers, Inspector initials at various years, etc.

I'm definitely not a Swedish Mauser expert, but there are a number of them (including Baribal, in case he doesn't chime in here) on the GUNBOARDS forum, "Swedish Civilian & Sporting Firearms" subforum. You could put your information and pictures there and would, I'm sure, get some pretty definitive responses from forum members.
