This is to satisfy my immense curiosity on my new to me rifle. Basically got a k11 00/11
With a low serial of 301X with a number 37 below the serial with the letter P stamped.

Also came with the soldier tag. Im curious on the rifle and maybe the soldiers history?

Rifle never went to war. Soldier did his mandatory military service. On Swiss military firearms, a "P" stamp stands for Privatisiert (privatized). It indicates that the rifle was officially released to a departing service member to keep as private property after their military service ended

This is extremely superficial, but not sure what you were hoping to learn? Militaries don't keep track of serial numbers for much of anything. I don't know if people are hoping to see a dusty old telegram that says "rifle 123456 was the first rifle to fire a round at Operation Market Garden"

What are you guys talking about? It was issued to August Auf der Maur of the second company of the fortress detachment 18. Schwyz probably indicates his hometown and 14 stands probably for 1914 as his year of birth.

Fortress detachment II/18 was based in Näfels, which is not far from Schwyz, manning the artillery fortification "Barbara" there. Go from here to find additional information. If you need any pointers or help with translation let me know.

Almost all rifles are so called "personal weapons", the other option would be "Korpswaffen" (collective weapons), meaning equipment that would be issued to soldiers as needed, for example light and heavy machine guns, smg's, sniper rifles and so on. Officers get a rifle from the Korpswaffen issued as well if they want to, because their personal weapon would be a pistol. It's still the case to this day. The day you finish officers school you get to keep the at basic training issued rifle for the duration of your service, but your pistol is now your personal weapon that you may keep at the end of your service. The rifle has to be turned in (or kept on loan for targetshooting purpose). Glad I never did officers school.
